If Luka was on the kings last year they make the playoffs, right?

It was absolutely indefensible to draft Bagley over Luka.
But as for that specific question, I think it is an interesting counterfactual because of Fox.

Last year, Fox took such a huge step forward and it was because the Kings were third in pace. Fox ran it down teams' throats. I'm not sure how much value he has off the ball. And obviously Luka's value is on the ball as well. And Luka plays slow. Mavs were 19th in pace last year (the same spot they are this year).

Ultimately, I don't know how those two play together. And Joeger is not as good of a coach as Carlisle. The Kings were 9 games from the 8 seed. I don't know that they make that up.

But still, they should have taken Luka.

I think they could have maybe solely because bagley didn't even play for half the season. Even if you had Luka come off the bench as a 6th man or only playing 25-30 minutes a game, his contribution would have been significant. Sure Carlisle is better than joerger but carisle is overrated af IMO, how long can he argue his rosters are bad? Eh. I don't think luka is any worse off on a kings team that definitely looked like knew what it was doing last season.

    Its possible.

I do wonder if having Luka around would have helped or hindered Fox's development that year. And if they do struggle to share the ball / maximize their potential...that could have created some friction and upset chemistry. Like I said, an interesting counterfactual. But I disagree with you about Carlisle. I think he is pretty accurately rated. And ultimately, I am still skeptical that it would amount to +9 wins in the end.

Like I said, if you brought Luka in when fox was on the bench the team would have played better overall. You don't even have to play them together for more than a few minutes. Luka isn't porzingis, he would have been a rookie and he would have done what was asked of him. The amount of difference in playing Luka over someone like Garrett temple is astronomical.

Carlisle is gonna be overrated forever because he won a title with the mavs, it really is what it is. Every NBA fan was so thrilled that he beat the heat in what was such a true underdog story that he is still beloved. Since that championship, they've made the playoffs 4 times and lost in the first round each time. That's 5 times out of the 7 times they made the playoffs in the 12 years he's been there, only twice have they gone beyond the first round. He also has an under .500 record as a coach right now. Sentimentality is nice but at the end of the day It's hard to say he's an elite coach because he had dirk at his MVP peak years in what was a magical run at a championship with a bunch of vets who wanted it badly. He's like the NBA equivalent of Tom coughlin but with only one championship. Luka fell in his lap and now, for the foreseeable future, it's his only hope to hold up another trophy in June.

That extra roster spot the wolves made is intriguing, wonder they fill it out. The DLo trade rumors are true im just not sure who they would package for him. Maybe culver/roco or culver/wiggins plus 2 or 3 first rounders. Otherwise we don’t have many pieces or shit contracts the warriors would want.

No way they give up that many first rounders for DLO

maybe not, but the “KAT is getting upset at the organization about losing” narrative is only going to keep getting louder.
