I think the problem is casual voters reading headlines and getting the takeaway that Bernie is sexist

 

And it opens the door for them to blatantly lie even more

Yeah it’s been simplified and most people won’t read beyond the headline, so all that exists is “Bernie sexist”, which confirms a bias from a lot of mad people.

But if the concern is casuals just reading the headlines, wouldn't the best thing to do is just make the story go away? Striesand effect and all that stuff? The more people talk and this and try and make it about Bernie vs Warren, the more misleading headlines the media is gonna stir up

 

I mean yeah I would love for this to drop out of the headlines, but I also bet it gets brought up during the debate tonight because CNN would probably rather cause drama than ask important questions!

 

And I imagine that it's something presidents could legally do, considering it's up to the DoE to collect on those loans, right?

 

This was the most mind-numbing part of reading these transcripts, and that includes them repeatedly asking the moronic “who has broken your heart” question

 

I know it’s on congress to approve the expenditure of monies thru the budget, but I don’t think they have control on the collection of them? It’s kinda like the IRS declining to audit the rich at Trumps direction. Sanders/Warren could direct the DOE to not collect and cancel loans I believe.
