Yachty is okay, I've heard some features of his that I liked, but overall he's just kind of mediocre.

Uzi is fine but to me he's just kinda a keef rehash it's not thrilling or anything

  14. Horrorca

I respectfully disagree, he is a lot more melodically inclined and nuanced (at least on vs the world)

I mean his whole thing is based on Keef. Keef left that behind - kind of, he still has insane knack for hooks (see: Almighty DP) - but all Uzi is really doing is picking up where he left off a couple years ago and getting more attention and respect than keef did at the time bc he plays the industry game.

I agree with both sentiments, but I don't think that's a bad thing - if he knows how to play the game, more pwr to him

Yeah I mean I like Uzi. I think he's got a lot of potential. Just right now that's all I've got for him is all.

I also love all things Scott Piligrim-worship so there haha

I do like how he kind of represents this pop intersection of being hard or w/e and shit like Scott Pilgrim, his jacket in the xxl freestyle was wacky haha

Anyone watch this Awful Records Doc, it's pretty great.

I'm gonna say that starting at 25:00, rapper SlugChrist compares the 90s to the Renaissance and the current wave of new artists to the Impressionists, trying to simplify art. I'd argue that Yachty's music is the perfect example of this kind of seemingly simplistic wave of rap.
