Apathy and Exhaustion is one of the best records ever. "Boatless Booze Cruise" was one of my best friend and I's go-to drinking songs.

After that record my 2nd favorite has to be "The Greatest Story Ever Told." It has some of my favorite Larry Arms songs ever.
"Drunk Mouth Kitchen Smile", "The Ramblin' Boys of Pleasure", "A Wishful Puppeteer"...

"Buttsweat and Tears" EP is also fuggin' great.

 

Yep they announced a few months ago! Very stoked

 

they are such a blast live too.

I agree with you on those being my favorite two as well, but I think most people have Calcutta at the top at this point.

 

Every record from Greatest Story and on is so damn good. One of my favorite bands. Can't wait for a new one

 

That one is great as well, Devils Takin Names is a banger live.

 

Oh Calcutta and Buttsweat and Tears are my fav releases by them for sure

Move Buttsweat above Cocktails and mine is exactly the same.

 

I could be talked into that because of Slowest Drink and the fact that I tend to like shorter releases more than compilations. But some of the Cocktails songs are some of my favorite songs from them. I also want to add that I like the first two albums a lot. I just wish they were in a position to have better recordings for them.

 

Slowest Drink is an anthem.

 

It’s one of the most Chicago songs I’ve heard. Love that song.

second podcast episode is up - this time it's focusing on Ghost Stories: ‎‎Road to the Skeleton Coast: Episode Two: Ghost Stories on Apple Podcasts

 

This second episode was good in terms of the nuggets about the band and the Chicago scene. It was also funny hearing Brendan talk about Mike Giampa lol.

 

I love that "Old Mexico Way" is what he started with for recording and made it the template for the whole album, lol

 

I forget how much I enjoy Ghost Stories. I've been listening to it the last few days after running through the podcast.

I'd pay for a re-worked Ghost Stories with better production, the "secret" songs split up, and maybe a few of the tracks re-imagined if they thought they could add to something.

 

Minute and old timer are my favorite songs on ghost stories.

 

Ghost Stories and that episode gave me a whole new appreciation for it. "Light Breathing" and "!06 South" are gems. And it would be great if the album got a remixed/remastered release.

I didn't expect Slapstick to be the next one to discuss for the upcoming podcast, haha. Gonna go revisit that stuff!

 

I think he said Broadways Broken Star would be next. That one will be a trip.
