Machine Head is deserving of being considered one of the best Metal acts of not just this generation, but all time.

 

Billy Talent is full of very talented musicians led by a terrible songwriter.

 

The whole thing is embarrassing to me.

 

Oh, here's a weird one. I enjoy the Epic Rap Battles Of History from an unironic/non-humor-based standpoint.

 

I don't really like any of those alt-pop singers who seem to be really popular the last few years.

 

Who are some examples of those?

Legitimately think this band is the worst band ever. I like Brokencyde more than them, because at least I can laugh while listening to them. hahah

I agree with all of these, except Grimes who I have recently got really into. Kill V. Maim is perfect. haha She is weird as hell though.

 

Aw Skillet isn't thaaaat bad

 

I'd have to say that my favorite thing about them is their use of string instruments more than anything.

...That being said, one thing I will concede is that the song "Monster" has been overplayed so hard I could probably never listen to it again even if I wanted to.

 

I think I have a bit of bias, because I spent highschool in youth groups where the band was held at the level of regard Brand New is on this site. I tried to force myself to like them just because it's the only music anyone really talked about, the youth pastor would even give out Skillet CDs as prizes in games. But I just hated them so much, and it made me even more an outsider when I wasn't one to participate with everyone else in the "omg this skillet is great" stuff.

As far as string stuff goes, I love string instruments a ton (try to use them as much as possible in my own music, obsessed with Cellos), but I don't think they did them all that well. A lot of other bands do it better I'd say.

 

I think I'd like Grimes if anyone else was singing. she sounds shrill like she's on helium or something idek.

 

Yeah, she has one of those voices that I totally get not liking. My oldest sister loves her, my girlfriend hates her, I love her on some songs, am indifferent on others.

 

i can't get into halsey, haven't listened to lorde, only liked charli's first record and "superlove", massive fan of Marina (see avatar) and Grimes but i don't expect everyone to like 'em, just to give them a chance. Marina's three records sound nothing alike though which is why i press more about that (sorry to those who were uncomfortable? still baffled about that lol), but i think Electra Heart is the closest to accessible out of all of them.

Since Skillet was mentioned, and since this is an unpopular music opinion thread, I still think Collide is a solid record. His voice is grating as all get out, but for some reason i can live with it on that album.

I'm not sure if you're interested in listening to Lorde but this song is brilliant imo and Dustin Kensrue does a very good cover of it :)
