Stoked for this Christmas song!

 

It bothers me that instead of being excited about hearing a new Christmas song, I’m just angry at the band. That they coincided this and the Chainsmokers collaboration with the XXX news without actually saying anything about it feels intentional. It feels like we’re being handled as fans, and I hate that feeling. Also, I don’t know why people even read reddit, my god those comments are ridiculous.

It’s ok to criticize things you like and people that let you down. It’s healthy.

 

Yea, I can’t really feel excited about anything they do right now.

 

It definitely feels like then trying to sweep the xxx shit under the rug and not be held accountable for it, and instead saying “look at this new shiny toy”

Yeah, there’s only one song release coming from this band that matters in terms of discourse and it ain’t the Christmas one, I’m sorry to say

 

100% getting handled. Even though SC has nothing to do with the blink releases, Mark being in Australia seems hella convenient.

 

I don't think blink are intentionally trying to deflect attention away from the X collab. If they are really self-aware enough to know that what they did will be so widely criticized and damaging to their reputation, why would they do it in the first place?

 

having a second posthumous album being released says a lot about his popularity, how many other big name artists have also praised him. i think the fact he was so young is whats giving people comfort in turning a blind eye to the shit he's done because they can pull that "he was young, he didn't know what he was doing, he didn't get a chance to grow and change" card to excuse his crimes.

i don't (or at least like to) think blink were 100% fully informed of everything he did, but i imagine its a case of the latter with hearing some murmurings from a vocal minority about some crimes he's done in the past and dismissing it because aaaahhh he was just a kid.

What era do we all think the XXX collab will be most influenced by? I don’t understand why the subject keeps getting changed...

 

Not trying to change the subject, just came into the blink-182 thread to comment on a new blink-182 song.

The XXX shit is reprehensible, but I guess I didn’t realize every single comment in this thread had to acknowledge it.

 

Genuinely impressed with Not Another Christmas Song. Catchy as hell. All in on whatever Travis is doing in the second half of the song.

 

Checked my Spotify and blink was my number one artist this year. Rather than being pumped to see blink as my number one artist in the year 2019, I was only left pissed off and a sour taste in my mouth.

 

The output this band has had since Matt has joined is so impressive. Plus there has still been room for Alk3, SC and other side projects.

 

I think I agree with this but only from the quantity perspective.

 

What's really left to say? The majority of the people in this thread are genuinely upset, hurt and disappointed that this is even happening. It's pointless, careless and stupid. We want an explanation from the band (really Mark) as to why they felt the need to associate with someone like X in the first place. People have stated that they won't listen or support this collaboration in any way. It seems like the band is distancing themselves from it which makes it even more of a "what the hell" type thing.

I, myself, am kind of at a loss and not really sure what else to say or feel. Like Jason said yesterday the band has a new Christmas song coming out tomorrow and normally I'd be super excited but I'm really like whatever at this point.

 

Travis posted about the XXX collab in his Instagram story with hashtag #LLJ. I think that is the first and only public acknowledgement from the band I have seen.

 

blink was my artist of the decade, but not one of their songs made the list for this year or any of the years I’ve had Spotify (2011-2019) or the decade lol.

And apparently i listened to A LOT of PUP the last couple of years since a good amount of their songs made my top of decade list

 

Both songs are super catchy.

 

I don’t actually think blink is distancing themselves from the xxx collab at all. They’re just busy and when it comes closer to release time and Mark is in the states they’ll all talk about how excited they are about it.

 

If you remove the line "This is not another Christmas song" this song could have been on Nine or Cali.

 

I thought I saw it was coming out tomorrow
