I think people need to be informed and come to their own conclusion on how they feel about situations like these.

It’s very easy to judge on the internet and much harder for people to take to the real world in general terms of consistency.

i think most people in here are informed, and are coming to their own conclusions, they just don't seem to be the ones you like.

Hi Sean, I don’t think I posted my opinion, so maybe I’ll clarify as it’s related to the Blink situation. You may still disagree and that’s fine.

I wish that Blink didn’t do a song with Xxx, and I don’t expect myself to seek out a chance to listen to this song. I am glad that Xxx is not profiting of this song, but instead it will be either his kid, family or potentially any victim if he has lawsuits against him, and maybe that can help break the pattern or cycle. I think after reading Xxx bio to try and get informed he has a very sad a violent life starting in his childhood which is sad. I don’t wish people dead, but you see how his lifestyle lead to his early death. And back to Blink, I have never used them as a moral compass. I think based on how they present themselves to the public they see like good people at the core, and the issue or action in question is not an action committed by them. The guilt by association thing for me is difficult because I am hoping what they worked on with Xxx was meant to be a positive thing (even if Xxx was not a good person). I guess that’s where it ties into my thoughts on “is it ok to slam universally Blink and go watch the Avengers?”.

To each their own opinion though. These in the “Grey area” situations are always tough.

Hope that was at least some what clear on what my thoughts are.

Working in any capacity with XXX is never a positive thing, regardless of the fact he is dead and not profiting off of this. This is not a grey area situation, it is clear as day, Blink are working with a noted abuser and overall shitty person and are thereby showing themselves to the world they do not care about his past actions and how negatively he has affected some people in this world.

Why does X's upbringing matter at all? Bringing that into it, while may not be your intent, immediately makes it look like youre trying to defend his actions, which, is not a good look.

Also, people on this forum have pretty much universally agreed that ScarJo is an idiot and her comments/defense of woody allen is disappointing, but no I don't think that should stop you from watching The Avengers. Nor should this necessarily stop you from listening to Blink, which I am sure nobody who frequents this thread will likely do, but getting mad and frustrated at artists you enjoy for doing stupid/offensive/questionable things and/or associating their art with abusers is not wrong at all. I haven't seen anyone here call for the immediate cancellation/burning of blink, unless i missed something. Just a lot of folks rightfully angered with the behavior of their favorite artists.

That’s why I brought up the whole “Hangover”, Todd Phillips and Bradley Cooper thing. Mike Tyson was a convicted rapist. That movie made millions and created sequels. I am curious how people felt the same way about that?

Whataboutism. Just because that happened does not mean people can't be angry about Blink working with XXX. Mike Tyson in the film did suck, and the movie was popular because people tend to forget about others past actions, or they try and justify them. Sometimes when the media keeps giving positive attention to someone people just forget about their past, which is super disappointing.

I'm not defending this either though, it definitely sucks, and if those movies were made today in the more aware society we live in, it probably would have been way different, but that movie came out in 2009. i don't really know what you're looking for here honestly.

edit: yes 100% what @ItsAndrew said above, just because something went one way in the past doesnt mean it shouldnt go differently now. all your examples are valid and those situations all suck, but it doesnt mean this should go un-discussed.

Also this. There was no #MeToo movement back in 2009. I'm sure a lot of us have watched The Hangover and enjoyed it but I really don't think that is a valid argument to make for people defending Blink working with XXX.

Like, sorry I watched The Hangover and enjoyed it a decade ago. There isn't anything I could have done about that except grow up and realize how shitty Mike Tyson is and not watch the movie. Blink are a) already grown up and b) in a position to do something about their actions BEFORE their actions are released to the public.

Too many people in the world do not give one shit and refuse to understand how badly & violently some men really treat women. This country elected one as fucking president. This is what bothers me so much.
