  4. Blink-182 Confirmed on XXXTentacion Track Listing • chorus.fm
I’ve sat here for the past thirty minutes trying to figure out how to word this post, which I felt was important to make because it is newsworthy and I think people should know it’s confirmed and happening. Right now, I’m as frustrated and angry as I have been in a long time at something in the musical world. I think this post from our forums sums up where a lot of my frustration is coming from at the moment

I find it interesting that the band has been promoting their song with the Chainsmokers on social media a lot this week but have been silent about this one when they're both being released on the same day.

That really, really sucks. Not that I was in denial about it from the moment it was announced. Horrible look on all of their parts. Mark, especially, should do better than this.

I mean is it a legal thing? Why have they been silent about it all this time?

Yeah, I was in denial, so this is a massive fucking letdown.

I still don't know how we, collectively, as a society gave this man the platform to become the biggest name in the industry. Then fucking celebrated his death like he was a fucking martyr for the entire fucking music scene. And moreso, a martyr to the abusers & abuse-enablers of the industry, every fucking sexist, homphobic motherfucker who thought they were cool for not caring about anyone but themselves and the music they liked. Treating his death as a rallying cry for a rebuttal, a shaming of all the activists who actually gave a fuck.

And now we're here over a year later, and the whole fucking industry's holding onto his name for clout. Fucking disgusting.

I don’t ever speak on this stuff, mainly because I like take time to myself and process my own thoughts and feelings with no outside influence seeping in. But I praise those who do speak up to educate.

That said, this is incredibly disappointing. It’s been boiling for months and taking steps closer to the reality of it all until it finally became official. IDK wtf they were thinking or why any type of PR personnel would be okay with it other than an irresponsible business decision. What’s sad is that I’ll be more surprised if they address this at all over them not saying anything at all while trying to move forward. The ladder is the messed up part.

It’s unfortunate that fans, like myself, have to apologize to any other fans or people effected by this irresponsible transaction because the band themselves haven’t said anything yet. So, I’m sorry to anyone that’s effected or disappointed by this in the slightest bit and haven’t gotten clarity from it yet. I hear you. I understand the bigger picture here and the influence it can have outside of music. It sucks. This sucks.

Because they know good and well what a shitty thing is to have done. IF they say anything about it I bet a million bucks it will be "people make mistakes, he didn't have the chance to make it right, but he was SO talented" but that means they're willing to pass off sexual assault, domestic violence and homophobia as a "mistake" as long as they get to profit from it and the person who did it is "talented" enough. There's absolutely nothing they can say to justify it. At all.

  22. I think the simplest answer is that Travis clearly really liked XXX and wanted to work with him and didn't care about all the other stuff and Mark and Matt either agree with him or don't care enough to disagree. That makes more sense to me given Travis's history with XXX than it being about money or looking cool to new audiences. I think they genuinely like XXX and therefore do not care about the optics of what they're doing.

  23. I do not disagree that the popular band Blink-182 wants to stay popular, I just don't think there's a correlation to this specific act and wanting to stay popular. I believe if the band wanted to be underground and heard by ten people, given what Travis has said publicly, this would still be something they would do. And that Mark and Matt either agree with Travis enough to do it, or don't care enough to disagree, both of which are bad. I think passing something like this off as "wanting to be relevant or popular" actually removes part of the responsibility because they actually do know about and have praised XXX even with all of the stuff we know about him.

FUCKIN SAVAGES IN THAT FUCKIN BOX Prestigious

Yeah I think most of it is giving in to Travis. I could see him begging them to do this daily. Not that that lessens the disappointment of course. Sucks seeing Travis bring this guy up literally every chance he gets.

Blink are my favourite band, and have been for the last 16 years. Their influence on me and the way I connected to them in my teens was something I still carry with me to this day.

That being said, since Tom's dismissal in early 2015 I've been more and more disengaged with them. While it is still cool to see Mark and Travis carrying the name, and Matt is a cool fit who seems to care about the music and the fans...I think maybe the restrictions Tom's lack of interest forced them into may have been a good thing in this case. While there was that collab with Yelawolf on the DED EP, and I love the fact that Mark and Travis now have the freedom to do experimental releases/collabs/etc., maybe the ongoing stress and slow moving machine that was the band when Tom was in there post-reunion may have halted this XXXT song due to scheduling conflicts and the three of them not aligning on their calendars.

Again, just spitballing, but I miss Tom. But I also know he wasn't good for this band and what Mark and Travis wanted out of it, so it's a catch 22.

Also, based on how long this album (Bad Vibes Forever) has been in the pipeline, we don't know when Blink signed on to the collab or how much info was out about XXXT at that point. Could be weird long-term legalities involved, so no idea.

Also seeing Mark DJ in a club in Melbourne tomorrow night, 150 person capacity. Should be sweet.
