No, I haven't. I honestly don't think I will because I don't want to end up seeing how "Alky Trio" this album sounds after listening. I like still having it as straight up blink-style in my mind.

 

but by hearing him in blink first you might think the opposite haha

 

I actually think there is very little Alkaline Trio influence on this album. One song that sounds Alkaline Trio-y to me is San Diego, though, and I think that is why it is my favorite on the album.

Bored to Death still gets a good run on the morning radio show I have on a work every day since it was released. The main host has bagged it every single after its on, I laugh every time. It's a running joke now

 

I only knew maybe 5 songs of alk3. I've since downloaded about 6albums. Had a brief listen. Plan to do a lot more after I stop smashing blink, good charlotte and the upcoming amity and ADTR albums

 

I love Crimson, Burn especially. Also like Armageddon a lot, it's a catchy fast paced punk song that reminds me of tony hawk games lol.

 

Fuck, I still love this album. I am mass cleaning my house blasting this head phones, and singing a long out loud to every song. It must look silly but there hasn't been an album by any band that has done this to me on a loooong time where I liked every song and it just makes me want to rock out. There's been some good songs, some I liked most of the album. But man this album. And fucking Skiba.

You have nothing to worry about :) they couldn't be further apart in this genre.

 

This album sounds nothing like Alkaline Trio

 

Yeah there's only a few moments that sound Trio influenced, and it's just because, well, it's Matt and that's how he writes. I'm envious of anyone who gets to get into Trio now. I remember falling in love with them when Good Mourning came out, and they've essentially been my favorite band ever since.

 

In the last picture blink retweeted of tour prep, is that Doug in the picture? I was wondering if he was exclusive to Tom or if he's blinks guitar tech?

I don't think that is Doug. I'm pretty sure Doug is exclusive to Tom since he has been Tom's tech in both blink and AVA for many years.

 

But he was probably laid off since Tom doesn't tour anymore right?

 

That's possible. I guess we'll see when the tour starts! But I don't think I have seen Doug with them on any shows played over the last month.

 

Wasn't Doug a guitar tech for the Foo Fighters as well?

There's like a bridge and two verses that maybe could've made it into a Trio song, that's literally it. Matt couldn't have slid into blink more seamlessly I think. Aside from some people's gripes about the guitars, but I personally prefer all the music on here to the riffs on Tom's demo album.

Blink and Trio are still definitely two distinct bands.

I wasn't inferring that it did - was just curious if people who had 0 history with alkaline trio liked skiba enough to give his band a listen.
