I'd be interested to hear the original Tidal Wave where Adam talks about it initially being a 'slower, folkier' song written by John until Mark suggested playing it really fast.

I'd love a full album of El Paso type stuff. I tend to like their heavier songs.

Yeah, I realllllllllllllly wish we got fully fleshed out versions of You Should Have Waited and Macky Sasser.

I miss the sum41-sounding guitar riff that the original you should have waited demo had haha

When John and Shaun left the band, they had already worked on some songs together. John and Shaun had helped with Slowdance on the Inside and Mark had worked on Existentialism on Prom Night. Tbs got to keep Slow dance and Straylight got to keep Prom Night.

I always knew John and Shaun worked on Slow Dance as there was a live video of them playing an early version of it online.

I knew Mark had some sort of input on the early Straylight demos

But only recently from a podcast or something I learned about the “trade”

  10. Still waiting to hear the full versions of these demos

Listened to the first video... is it supposedly different from you should have waited?

I've probably posted this before but I always thought Sasser should have opened the album. It absolutely rips. They said they thought the intro was too long which I think it ridiculous! Bands' tastes in their own songs is always weird haha.

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

I can't click the link at work, can anyone list what songs they mentioned?

    dope, thank you

pretty great list, I'd agree with basically everything except "Who Are You Anyway?" which just gets unbelievably repetitive. on the other hand "Homecoming", "This is All Now" (that fuckin bridge), "How I Met Your Mother" and "Everything Must Go" are some of their best

i believe the title of the slowdance we know today was "ellieisomghawt" and the video was from Emo's in Texas. i've been looking but haven't found it in forever.

there was also this one which is a completely different song:

It is tragic how quickly video quality has improved in the last 20 years or so. There are so many bands in the early 2000’s that did not get the videos they deserved

Damn, they really love the S/T haha. I do hope they play some of those tracks live on the next tour though. How I Met Your Mother would be amazing live.

agreed. just imagine if this didn't sound like 3 different songs being played at the same time

Yeah, not sure if you watched the video or not but they acknowledge that most of the songs listed were from S/T and they said when they were recording that album, they thought it'd be really big and Adam said 'I think the album came out during a time where it was cool not to like Taking Back Sunday.'

I couldn't have been more excited for that album...but to me it was a HUGE miss. Easily my least favorite album from them.

i think they liked the songs that surprised them the most during the recording (i'm in a band, this makes a ton of sense to me) but a lot of those songs feel extremely inorganic and weird to me, like "since you're gone"

they're right though that "call me in the morning" is a bop that should get played all the time

  23. it doesn't feel a thing like falling is the best song on the record don't @ me
