I love Sleepin' a lot. Jason compared it to some Hellogoodbye shit and that's always a good thing.

I would rate the songs on this album, but I haven't listened to any of them

 

Every song on Air For Free is better than every song on Collapsible Lung.

Yes including Don't Blink and the title track.

Yes including Mrs Hippo etc etc

Air For Free is magnificent.

 

you think the elephant song is better than don't blink? wow.

 

As much as I love AFF I can't get behind that.

Even the weaker tracks on AFF have an earnesty and more impressive/interesting musical things going on than either of the two decent tracks on CL.

The only reason those are praised as much as they are is in comparison with the rest of a garbage album.

 

Hot take....and I'm definitely gonna disagree with that, I thought Don't Blink was a great song before the rest of the album came out.

 

Haha. I knew the Don't Blink/CL element of that statement would be controversial. And I can totally see disagreeing with it.

But it's less of a statement about those songs not being good. Because I really do love them. Decent RK is great.

It's more about how I just wholisticly love AFF.

I'm working on a write-up that will explain it more.

But it's just very quickly become an incredibly important album to me.

"Don't Blink" is one of my favorite Relient K songs ever.

 

Getting a nostalgia kick from listening to this bands discography. I remember seeing the "Must Have Done Something Right" music video on Disney XD several times and thinking they were so cool, hearing "Sadie Hawkins Dance" when my middle school was having a Sadie Hawkins dance was so cool, lots of weird and specific memories with this band.

I'm enjoying listening to Two Lefts, Mmhmm, Five Score, FANSD, and Air For Free a lot. Lots of material to listen to and its all pretty great.

 

"Don't Blink" is like whipped cream on top of a pile of already-chewed wad of meat: all you see is the whipped cream, and it makes you feel warm & happy, then you see what's after that and just go, "...oh. Gee. Thanks."

 

Apparently a lot of people are having issues with the Air for Free vinyl skipping. Kind of glad I skipped that headache after how awful getting Five Score went for me.

 

This is a perfect analogy. Bravo.

 

I like this album, but it doesn't hold a candle to Forget and Not Slow Down for me. Still, a step in the right direction. There are a lot of great songs on here, and even though it's overlong and doesn't feel cohesive to me (at least not yet), I'm enjoying it so far.

 

Does it feel like they threw a bunch of different stuff at the wall to see what sticks? I can understand doing that after releasing an album that was as panned as CL.
