How in gods name did Guendouzi not get sent off though? That’s a red card on a rugby pitch never mind football :crylaugh:

    hmmm

Trent was outstanding in possession today. Astonishing level of dominance from right back.

I don't think it's really an option for opponents now to pinch in and prioritise the middle, such is the influence of our full backs. The few teams who have stunted us this season (Napoli, Man United, maybe Sheffield United too) have found a way to occupy the full backs and force us to create from midfield. It's just not a good trade-off to allow TAA and Robertson space going into the final third.

It is all Emery's fault. He puts him in the firing line every week in a system that doesn't suit him. Walking instead of running off does't justify the abuse. At all.

I've heard what people say about him in the stadium and it is often fucking disgusting.

Seriously, can we talk about three matches in a row VAR has fucked us? I'm SO SO SO fed up with VAR.

I dare anyone to find the foul and seriously argue for the goal being disallowed today. You won't find it because it does not exist.

There’s a new format this year, too. We’re automatically in the Hex. So we have less time to find cohesion. Good stuff.

  20. Pathetic effort by LAFC tonight - they overlooked Seattle and got their asses kicked - what a waste of a season

I was trying to describe myself to someone

Find this article fairly annoying: Granit Xhaka: Arsenal to offer counselling to midfielder after fans' argument

The impression I've got from everything I've heard and read since the weekend is that Xhaka didn't even play badly in that match and is just being used a scapegoat for everything wrong this season. When the fans are being as disgusting as they were, why on earth should he apologise?

If you don't want your own players to tell you to fuck off, maybe don't treat them like shit.

Agreed. Like, Xhaka is proven to be a good player for Borussia Monchengladbach and Switzerland. He is being played in the wrong way by a manager who refuses to change his position, and it's been made worse by making him captain during this period. If we got a new manager and Xhaka became a less permanent first team player, I think this would all blow over.

I think this is the effect of what our fanbase has been feeling for a while. We moved to a new stadium and now pay the most expensive average prices in the world to watch our team, at a time when there is more money in the game than ever before. Alongside that, it has matched a prolonged period of stagnation and, actually, regression, on the pitch, that means we haven't won a league title in 15 years. Alongside this, our board have taken away the annual chance the fans had to actually speak to the club and have their voices heard. Right now, our fans feel overlooked, marginalized and taken advantage of.

I'm not saying Xhaka's treatment is right, because it isn't, but people who aren't fans of the club probably don't realise the extent to which most fans feel frustrated and like the club they love is being stripped away bit by bit and they are simply misdirecting their anger.

It's very easy to judge these fans, but I have sympathy for all sides in this.

  24. Didn’t realize we had two great matchups in Carabao Cup today.

Liverpool with zero starters playing today though lol

Watching the Liverpool v Arsenal game now at work; had no idea what the Carabao Cup was, haha. Googling it, it seems like a comp that gives teams from the three football tiers below the EPL a chance to play the top teams, right? With the EPL and Champions League to think about though, I can see why the teams wouldn't want to play any normal starters, haha
