You literally cannot, as a man, tell a woman what they can and cannot do with their bodies. You cannot, as a man, remove the right to bodily autonomy of women. You cannot, as a man, understand what women go through. You cannot, as a man, use your anecdotal thoughts to strike down women's rights

You can have your opinion, no one is denying you that. Just like we can deconstruct said opinion and give our thoughts on that opinion. This is a women's issue.

Got no time for men who think they get a say in this. I mean you can think you do but I couldn't value ur opinion on this subject any less.

If you believe it's a human rights issue, then as a male, yes you can have a say. If you disagree that it's a human rights issue, than I can see your point.

I never said it wasn't... I just said that it's also a human rights issue. You disagree with that... that's basically the entirety of the conversation. We agree to disagree

since when are women not humans. it's a womens issue. a womans body is only a womans issue. they should have the only say on their bodies. what gives you the right to decide what rights a woman has to their own body? what gives you the right, as a man, to tell a woman what they can and cannot do?

we men, do not have any right to tell a woman how they should use their bodies. we men, should not police others on their bodies. we men, should know better than to stick our noses into issues that are not ours.

Let me get this straight: you want to force a woman, who knows her own body, to be subject to laws that take away her autonomy and make her more likely to die in order to preserve human rights. Got it.

Well, my previous account got banned for some reason.... which is odd considering that I have one account (or did on chorus) and was a member on absolutepunk since the early 00's.... Honestly, I'm not going to fight with everyone is here about this. I have my opinions and you have yours. You think mine are repressive... there really isn't anything left to be said on the issue.

It always astonishes me that, in these conversations, the men don't actually know that this is the sort of idea they're conveying. Dress it up as you like, but the fact remains that you support taking rights away from women. The fact that they don't get to have an opinion, aside from supporting what women want and say they need, is so foreign and frustrating to them that one almost expects them to explode.

the great majority of the women I'm close to are against it, so I am supporting what they want. I don't consider myself some "knower of all things" or approaching the topic from a patriarchal standpoint. I believe that oppressing an opinion because I don't meet a specific gender requirement is wrong. I know you disagree and I'm completely fine with that.

It is safe to assume that, if you're arguing against control of their bodies, you're expressing patriarchal opinions.

  23. Then those women can broach that opinion. Because it is a choice you will never personally have to make, go through or live with the consequences of, your perspective is skewed by the privilege of ~impartiality~ and your opinion that you are completely entitled to have is inherently less valuable to the conversation at hand.

This is not about you. It does not matter how you feel about that. It does not matter how you perceive what you're doing right now. It doesn't matter what you believe, because it is not about you. (Moreover, this is not even really about meeting a gender requirement, because there are men with uteruses who may need an abortion someday and similarly, some women never will.) This is about elevating voices who an issue actually impacts. If that isn't you, then this isn't about you and nothing you have to say on the subject is even remotely relevant when juxtaposed with those who have to live with this shit every single day.

This is obviously pointed at me. Correct me if I am wrong, but you are essentially saying there is only one correct view and it doesn't matter what you say is a correct as long as it tows in line with the agenda at hand? I always thought it was better to try and understand why the other side believes what it does if you want to try to change their minds. You can't just say people's minds don't need to be changed, when historically the U.S. has been split almost exactly 50/50 on this issue.
