Not sure what to think yet. Gonna need a few listens. It’s certainly not bad, but im not sure if im into it or not.

Ace posted this somewhere probably 15 years ago, but it had always stuck with me. Believe he was talking about one of the I Can Make a Mess albums and how people are supposed to experience the entire thing and not just look at a single. Seems like it applies to Lilac too.

My weakness is the song that stood out to me the most upon my first listen.

I will listen to tomorrow during my office hours at work, but how are you all liking this? The first released songs didn't do too much for me.

    Damn the closer is beautiful.

Sounds like it could've been on The World We Know.

  6. the closer reminds me of "Enola" and "Wrinkle" (two of his more underrated songs, imo)

Why does the chorus of Comatose remind me of Paper Planes

  9. The opener could easily end up being a top tier TEN song for me.

Yeah this was much more enjoyable on my second listen and with the night time atmosphere

I think it’s possibly my favorite opener of theirs.

My Weakness is def my favorite. Aces voice sounds great on the album but the imperfections really sell the emotions he’s conveying, the little cracks and yelps here and there.

Don’t care much for Fame tbh, idk can’t really pin down a reason why other than I just don’t like how it sounds

This is a great album by a great band fronted by a great man with a great back catalog and you’re all great too

I’m seeing them Saturday and I’m pretty damn bummed right now because this record is doing very little for me..

I would have loved a continuation of Imbue since that was incredible. I’m sure Ace refuses to make the same record twice and I respect that but this barely sounds like TEN to me. It sounds like an Ace Enders solo project. I’m sure people will scoff at that but it’s just what I feel.

Perfect Sphere, My Weakness, Hit By a Car, and Comatose are the only songs I think are alright but even those don’t really hold a candle to tracks on the previous records...

An inconsequential shift as the continents drift.

"For some reason with the Early November I never do big choruses. It's never been my thing," Embers says."

....this is the man who wrote "Narrow Mouth"! Modest or just insane?

Digging this a lot more than I thought I would based on the first single, ‘Hit By a Car’ is the weakest song on here by some distance. The rest of the record has a really cool Copeland-ish vibe. I thought I only wanted another straight-ahead rock record like Imbue out of this band but I’m very content with this.

Hit By a Car is one of my favs. Comatose is the one I'm not really feeling.

yeah what is... what is the mixing on the chorus of "Comatose". is that meant to enhance the song or

took this for a walk while the sun went down and it was def the right vibe for the album although I'm not feeling much yet. first three songs and the closer definitely hit

I listened to this fully this morning and wow, Ace and the gang really grow musically with each record. I'm still unsure if I like this record more than others but it's still a fantastic album.

Not sure if this was mentioned, but one of the songs sounds like it has the melody of ave maria during part of it. Thought that was kind of cool.

I’m digging it as I listen more. Ave Maria, Fame, You Own My Mind, I Dissolve, Our Choice might be my favorites.
