Definitely not expecting it since it wasn’t even released as a deleted scene but Im hoping when they release The Skywalker Saga box set which I’m sure will happen they’ll put it in

If I do another full rewatch I probably won't include Solo. I didn't hate it but I agree that its just a side story. Rogue One was great in my opinion and ties into the OT beautifully at the end. I plan on doing another rewatch soon since the last one I did was before TFA.
I definitely think for first time watchers that watching the OT first makes a lot more sense but at this point I like to do 1, 2, 3, RO, 4, 5, 6, 7, 8.

  3. Sitting through 1 and 2 is so excruciating.

There's definitely gonna be a hugely expensive nine movie box set coming out in about a years time haha.

Come to think of it. I wonder if they'll make any edits to TFA and TLJ to hint at the Palpatine more. Obviously, this is irresponsible speculation since we have no idea how and to what extent Palpatine is gonna be used in IX. But I could totally see them sneaking his laugh or a line of his into Rey's force vision in TFA just to give it more foreshadowing.

Are there any 1/2/3 fan edits that someone could watch rather than the full movies?

I get that people just do not like 1, 2 and 3 but I'm still going to watch them. I think release order with R1 and Solo is the best bet here.

It's not that I dislike episode 1 but it's that the saga could begin with episode 2 and not much would be lost.

I’ll disagree with that to an extent. From a narrative standpoint definitely the least important out of 1-6 but I think there’s a lot to mine from TPM emotionally and thematically. Even more than episode 2 possibly?

I think pod racing is important to the star wars story

I mean, they have to show something. I am sure there is a lot they aren’t showing that will blow minds. If they feel confident in showing dark Rey/Reey, I am sure there is a lot we have no clue about.

Do you think people stopped Pod racing because their underdog champion grew up to be a homicidal maniac?

If anyone is gonna bother watching episode 2, you may as well watch 1. 2 is the worst live action movie.

Luke actually almost beats his father's Boonta Eve Classic time but Vader sabotaged him. They're still pod-racing out in the galaxy on a bunch of different planets.

I remember really liking the visuals and effects of 2 but it’s been a long time. Specifically thinking of the clone troopers advancing on the droid army, the one guy telling obi wan there is no war here, unless you brought it with you and when general grievous is spinning his lightsabers.

    Grievous is in 3, yo.

2 is like an hour of talking, walking and talking, and sitting and talking plus the speeder chase. That’s like the entire first hour, and a good bit of the talking is Anakin and Palme having zero chemistry. Things pick up when Obiwan fights Jango. But that first hour is BRUTAL.

Obiwan vs Jango in the asteroid field is fun. The sound design on Jango's bombs is awesome.

It’s def one of the best sounds in any of the movies, tbh.

I feel like the sound design of those seismic charges is the only ubiquitous positive I hear from the movie that EVERYONE loves. Some people dig the Geonosis stuff. Some don’t. Some dig Camino. Some don’t.

Maybe I’m wrong but it’s sad that the sound of a bomb are basically the Maul fight of the movie lol

Asteroid bomb sound design and the way they bounced around is one of my favorite thing in all of Star Wars. That and the opening fight in Episode III where they’re in the atmosphere of that planet are some of the coolest design choices, imo

I used to think 1 wasn’t completely necessary, but after more thought I think it really sets up the relationship between Anakin and Obi-Wan for the rest of canon. The idea that Anakin was promised the life of a Jedi by Qui-Gon, only for him to die and now he’s being taught by the guy who didn’t really want him and Obi-Wan loses his master and is then forced to take an apprentice right away without having time to become his own Jedi. To use his term from Sith, they are much more of brothers under the training of Qui-Gon than a master and apprentice for the rest of the Saga. The book Master and Apprentice really solidified this idea for me and I think a lot would be lost without seeing them interact with Qui-Gon and deal with his death.

Even though I don't particularly love the prequels, all the clips in the D23 footage carry the same weight as all the other movies. And I'll probably cry if Qui-Gon shows up in this somehow.
