Like Ian said, she appeals to mums who are an underserved market. I know a few people who have seen her live and they come home blown away. Pink essentially has residencies when she tours Australia - it’s super expensive to tour here from overseas and any other artist will lose money, often a devastating amount - so Pink will play 16(!) shows in Melbourne, Brisbane and Sydney, as well as a couple in less loved states. More often than not, we wait a long time to see international acts. Unless they’re hot right now and playing festivals and side shows, it’s a waiting game. Radiohead haven’t been here since 2012, nor have mewithoutYou. The 1975 haven’t been here since 2016. In the US and UK, you’re seeing bands twice, three times a year. We don’t have that luxury here so we go fucking crazy when our faves finally tour here! Especially in Melbourne, Sydney, Brisbane and even Adelaide, which has become a dedicated music town after bands stopped coming there. They’re back on the map now.

TL;DR: Pink is one of maybe 5 artists who can sell out tours in every Australian state, not just Melbourne. She knows her audience and caters to them. If someone misses a show, they have 13 other chances! She’s often in the country for months

Idk I could see 29 continuing at a similar level due to her "four corners" audience coverage. Depends on how good the first single is and how much she lets her team use her recent divorce in the marketing.

 

Has anyone else been unable to get into the Genius pages for these songs all day? Feels like Taylor's team told them they're not allowed to host the lyrics until the song's out, because if you search something like "Death By A Thousand Cuts lyrics", you can clearly see that they're entered.

"False God" might be a top 5 Taylor song for me. Love this sound for her.

 

I just listened to the album again on my ride home from work, and on listen #2, "False God" was my absolute favorite. Holy shit, what a song.

 

Cruel summer is dope. love that prechorus melody.

Cornelia Street is great, her vocal delivery on this album is spot on. I think the ballads are making this record for me.

 

death by a thousand cuts is awesome, love the guitar line and how the synth fills the low end.

 

Going from listening to new The 1975 all day to this is wild and I am loving every second.
