Not Long for This World is pretty unreal

 

other than the tangent about capitalizing on hip-hop and metal's alliance I think that p4k review is honestly spot on.

I've started listening through the discog after listening to this record, and Vol. 4 is...not very good. Something is off with the production and Corey's vocals aren't as good as they were previously. It was good they started trying new things but other than the hits I won't go back to it.

But Iowa, man, I just don't think they'll ever top that record. Just a relentless, fucked up record.

 

My Pain could be about his divorce. it's a pretty painful song to listen to no matter what it's about

 

wow this really is their best album

 

Yeah I fucking love this record. Spiders give me major Nine Inch Nails vibes and I love it.

Listened to Iowa in full for the first time today and fuccccckk

 

This is definitely about hit ex wife he’s so angry it’s crazy it’s dark as fuck if you listen or read the lyrics

 

Solway Firth is the best song

Spiders is my least favorite by far

 

That spoken word intro is probably my favorite part of the song; it builds up the mood and intensity of the track really well

 

yeah I've seen people talk about not liking the beginning of Solway Firth, and I don't get that at all. I think it adds a maniacal atmosphere before it lets loose.

A Liar’s Funeral is my favorite song but god is it hard to choose

 

I don't think Solway Firth is really a closer but it has to rank as one of their best songs.

 

How is is not a closer?

 

I don't know if I was sold on it being the closer at first but given Corey's final few lyrics: it's perfect

 

Imagine if Solway Firth was the lead/first single for that album - now that would have been a statment

 

it works amazingly well as a closer

 

"Solway Firth" is one of those rare songs that would absolutely kick ass as both an opener and a closer, one of the most impressive things about it. I'm happy where it's placed though - they only tried going out with a banger once before, on "All Hope is Gone", and this is a much better version of that same idea

 

I don’t think any songs here would be a better closer. I like going out with a bang. Kind of wish it wasn’t a single though, that would’ve blown the doors off on a first listen through.
