I honestly didn't think they would trade him.

    GM committee did something right!

I’m somewhat surprised that the Browns traded Duke. I’ve heard that Dontrell Hilliard has been showing well this offseason so I guess they like what they see enough to actually pull the trigger before one week of preseason. That’s a pretty even trade overall.

Duke is a perfect fit, should catch a ton of balls as well

I hope Miles Sanders gets some solid playing time tonight, I really want to see what he's capable of in a game, he's been having great training camp reports.

So happy for Duke. By week 8 that backfield was going to be too crowded. The Texans is a great fit since Lamar Miller sucks and Duke does not.

Cool trade, but I’d rather just take my own RB in the 3rd/4th and have 4 years of team control

Comp pick will replace that pick

I’d rather have the proven commodity

Get Trent Williams and I may actually watch all 16 games

The pick in the Duke trade is a conditional fourth. It can become a third. I think it’s a a rare win for all sides.

Disagree in that Jordan Howard, an objectively better RB, got traded for a conditional 6th. Texans wildly overpaid for a need, but they did fill said need

I guarantee whatever player our non-GMs would've drafted in the 3rd or 4th would be worse than Duke

Doesnt mean that our net gain is necessarily positive but does mean we did better than we would

I think it was a great move. My opinion will not change. I would bash it if I thought it was bad.

He’s signed for 3 seasons reasonably cheap, give me that over whatever limp dick the Texans would miss on in the 3rd round.

Wait we have him for 3 years? Damn that's even better

I'll be happy if Wentz doesn't play tonight.

The condition seems to be that if Duke is active 10 games, it converts to a third round pick.

Yeah, his guarantees are $1.8M this year and then team control for the next few years. Part of the reason he wanted to be traded was that the Browns were likely to release him after this season, assuming Hunt took on the role we all think he will alongside Chubb. He wanted a place to play on his contract beyond this season because if he hit the market again, he’s likely not getting as good as what’s left on his existing deal.

The role in the offense and the likelihood of sticking around was what he was looking for and he got it with Houston. Regardless of what other teams did, the Texans had to add more rb depth beyond Miller and makeup for the Foreman pick. Johnson does that, even if it means overpaying a few rounds. Dorsey was looking for a third or fourth round pick and finally got a taker. Hilliard and Johnson get more opportunities with Cleveland. It’s a win for everyone.
