First of all, assuming someone has autism just because you've "spent time around him" is pretty goddamn gross. And it's absolutely an opinion because unless he's diagnosed you're literally just making wild assumptions. Again, gross.

Second, the guy was preying on a literal 10 year old child so he's scum, there are no mitigating factors, and he deserves whatever he has coming to him.

10-13 years old? Holy shit. And for him to say he didn’t “realize her age”??? Cmon dude. I don’t think it gets much worse than that.

For the record, Martina’s profile says they are 21 years old. I’d hope that would be old enough to not have such a terrible handle on these sorts of things.

Y'all should see some of the grown men I've had to talk out of worse opinions than Martina's. Personally, I'm always willing to give a slight benefit of the doubt to young women because on top of living in A Society, you have to actively fight your way out of patriarchal conditioning that makes your entire life a competition against your own gender and pits you against your allies to keep you unsafe and unhappy.

Granted, if this keeps up forever, threadbanning might be better. But we'll see. Maybe she is a bot.

This is a very good point and something I didn’t consider. Well said.

There was a time in my life where I was on a toy forum as a 13 year old girl and everybody thought I was like a 50 year old man because of the way I talked and what I talked about. Once the people I had been fighting with realized what was going on and that I was just a super awkward kid trying WAY too hard, they took me under their wing and a lot of them became friends that I still love and keep in touch with in “real life” to this day.

Having that experience and knowing how everyone can come across very differently online than they intend is why I have tried to be tactful when bringing this up, which is super hard when it’s calling someone’s literal humanity into question...

Looking at Martina's post history, the vast majority of her posts are in this thread. Makes me think it's a bit or something. If you're not a bot Martina, I hope you learn something from this thread.

Can anyone confirm any of the shady shit about Jake from MoBo/Slaughter, Beach Dog? During the Pinegrove situation members of the site said they don’t trust him or he has his own shit going on, but I can’t find anything with the research I’ve done.

  24. Echosmith share statement on drummer DMing Travis Barker's daughter
“We have never publicly addressed this in the past, but given the events of the last few days, we feel compelled to speak out now to offer some additional context and insight into the unfortunate misunderstandings that occurred and clear up the deeply hurtful mischaracterizations of Graham. As a child, Graham was diagnosed with Autism Spectrum Disorder. He has difficulty understanding social cues.”

“Graham’s challenges have always been a non-issue in our family. In fact, it is a truly beautiful and wonderful thing that makes Graham the amazing brother, son and friend that he is. His outlook on life inspires us every day. He’ll be the first one to say “today is gonna be the best day ever,” or, “you’re my best friend and you look amazing today.” He sees the world as the happiest place, where everyone is a potential friend, and he wants everyone to feel included. One very recent Christmas, we hosted a holiday party at our home, and had athletes, musicians, artists, and models show up, and we were very confused until they happily told us “Graham reached out on social media and invited us!” Anyone who has ever met Graham will agree, he is the friendliest and most kind-hearted, welcoming person in the world.”

“We understand that his interactions were misinterpreted and misunderstood in the confusing world of social media, and we are deeply sorry. Graham certainly never meant to make anyone feel uncomfortable.”

“As a family, we will continue to work with him to have the right tools and knowledge about social boundaries, and to better navigate and utilize social media while he takes a break from it.”

“We hope anyone who’s been affected, and in turn felt uncomfortable, can accept our deepest apologies.”
