Yeah that’s true, I’m not saying they have to monitor it completely at all, just who they’re talking to. Especially being at an age where kids are more impressionable, I’m just very glad she ignored him.

EDIT: I’m sure they had safeguards in place and he somehow bypassed them

Please just stop posting in this thread. You literally bring nothing to the table except massive defenses of sexual predators under the naive guise that there is never any bad intentions. Your novel-esque posts are a waste of space and add absolutely nothing to the conversation.

Tbh for a while at first I was convinced the account was a bot (hasn’t been the case for a long time now though). Only bothered responding this time because I was directly quoted

Yeah, I see people getting mad at the account a lot and responding to it but I really have not been able to tackle what the fuck they're saying

 

I also don't want to be offensive if it's a language barrier thing, it's just too dense of a wall of text that doesn't really go anywhere

 

I can’t tell you how comforting it was to get all those likes when I mentioned how weird that account is to me. Like the posts seriously make me question my brain, there’s something so uncanny valley about them. Knowing I’m not the only one was a relief.

 

I think Martina is young. She and I have had conversations throughout this thread's existence, and I think that she is trying to be very logical and sometimes overthinks things that are fairly simple. I don't think she's a bot and I don't think banning her would help her understand any better. I don't like what she posts in this thread any more than anyone else, but I am hopeful that she listens when engaged and is trying to understand things, in her own way. Then again, maybe I'm too nice and giving too much benefit of the doubt.

 

It isn’t just the writing style but also the fact that there will be pages and pages of people questioning things about the account or commenting without quoting and then there’s just sudden walls of text again without ever saying, “Wow, what a bummer that people don’t think I’m real,” or ANYTHING other than more weird deflections about abusers. It’s just so fundamentally strange and unlike how every other person I’ve ever encountered online acts. Like I definitely feel bad if it’s just some kid trying and failing to comment on the scene, but my trust level is super low.

 

Which is totally fair and my trust level is ALSO low here - I would definitely be interested to see her response to all this.

 

I mean, there's a point where you learn from your mistakes or you don't. This keeps happening...

 

I mean sure there's no way to actually prove what his intentions were in his own head (which could have been harmless in his eyes) BUT he still acted inappropriately by sending messages to Alabama at all, which is enough for me to say y i k e s. Also, I briefly scrolled through that twitter thread and saw enough of those screenshots to say y i k e s x2.

 

Calling a ten year old beautiful is the biggest yikes and that’s enough for me to know what his intentions were

Whether it's an informed opinion or not (based on "spent time around him" whatever that means and please, I don't care for you to elaborate), I really don't care. What you're casually saying can actually have huge implications for somebody, is stigmatizing and ultimately does not absolve him of anything.
