I thought about this more a minute and the real correlation between DiCaprio and Scorsese at the box office seems to be that Scorsese utilizes him for his more commercial movies (Departed, Wolf). And DiCaprio’s run of J. Edgar, the Revenant, Django, Gatsby, and Wolf is actually more diverse than I would have even given him credit for (even if I only liked like, two of those movies). His box office draw is real and unique. I’d like to see what Tom Cruise would do outside of sci-fi/action and see what Denzel or Tom Hanks’ numbers are

 

yeah Tom Cruise really only has Jerry Maguire and Tropic Thunder and it's arguable how much the latter is him and that's kinda action so Jerry Maguire may be his last successful non-action movie, because Rock Of Ages flopped, which wow

and it's definitely interesting how Blockbuster centered filming has killed the idea of a movie star, Anne Hathaway may be the last one to do it without franchises, Princess Diaries doesn't count, but like Chris Hemsworth is charming and funny but can't really land a non MCU movie
