i think it extra works because the jazz stuff gives me cred so people are like wow...he likes jazz, thats pretty respectable. high art and shit. and then theyre like wait no why is he posting about crunchy jams

 

To me personally anything that ever came out of metal that isn't Black Sabbath is either terrible or boring

 

I personally enjoy making high art people wrinkle their noses with my varied taste lol

I like a lot of metal stuff on and off but Black Sabbath is the only thing that has continuously aged well for me haha

 

I just think Black Sabbath is one of the great rock bands. I don't feel like I'm listening to metal when I listen to Sabbath, basically.

 

I also think Hole's Live Through This is better than anything Nirvana ever put out

I can keep this going all day, I have no strong reverence for anything rock related so I'm not shy with takes lol

 

with you on this one, I don’t know much Sabbath outside of their most well known songs but they’re the only metal band I’ve encountered that really do it for me

 

What about Metallica

I understand why people don’t like metal but if Black Sabbath is the only band you’re into, there are like tons of bands that play that sort of sound and do it very well

 

I'm into metal, not a ton lately but I dig it. But in terms of early metal, its pretty much just sabbath, yeah.

 

I just overall have gotten really into very few rock bands that aren't at least punk adjacent and even then the amount is staggeringly low compared to most people here

 

Yeah I believe that. Same with most genres.

my maybe hottest take is that of the canonical boomer singer-songwriters of the 60s and 70s I think Van Morrison is maybe the best and has had easily the greatest career longevity

his albums in the 80s alone are leagues ahead of what his peers were doing imo

but I realize this is a super niche / minority opinion to ride hard for late period Van records lol

 

And Justice and Ride the Lightning are so fucking good.

 

I don't think I have ever really listened to a full album by any of those canonical boomer singer-song writers
