That's interesting, that it has to be anything. Granted, two of them were very vocal about what they wanted blink to be vs. what one of them wanted.

Everyone keeps saying "blink is _____", but I guess I wonder why? What if they really liked DED and kept going in that route? Then what is it? Why is it okay for it to be that one thing, but not to be what Tom wanted it to be?

Just questions. I prefer this incarnation of the band anyways, because Skiba is just infinitely better.

Loving California, if I had one complaint and it is a small complaint, there are not enough "whoa's"

Blink-182 was there for me when I was finding out who I was, when I felt like I didn't belong in high school. They were there for any crush and every break up. They were there when I needed to grow up and help around the house when my horrible step dad would put all the weight on my mom. They were also there for all the fun times and for me to try to keep my head up through a multi-year depression. Hearing them make so many of my favorite songs while being accessible to play on guitar made me become a musician and got me confident enough to make an album of my own which I've toured on. They influenced my humor and my fashion (this one I wish I avoided- thank god I don't dress like that now). Tonight I'm going to hear the album for the first time when I spend my first night in my new home. Saturday my long distance girlfriend is moving in, back to California. They'll always be that band for me and no matter how I'll feel about this album- nothing can take away the impact on me. Thank you, Blink-182.

Just curious, is this the order in which you rate each song on the album?

I honestly think at this point Matt Skiba could sing the phonebook to me and I'd pay him

My girlfriend could hire him to break up with me on her behalf and I'd probably be totally fine with it b/c it's him lol

I'm in love with this album. Restraining myself from listening to it too much so I don't get burned out on it lmao.

I really like Matt's lyrics in The Only Thing that Matters.

I'd totally buy him dinner afterwards as well and maybe get a few drinks

After a few days of taking this album in, California is the musical equivalent of Star Wars: Force Awakens. It's a mostly successful release that plays up on nostalgia and themes that made people love the band in the first place. Matt Skiba is the Rey, the new character that everyone is excited to see how the future stories unfold with. Mark and Travis serve as Han and Chewie, the old favorites that keep everyone invested. John Feldman is JJ Abrams, the guy that grew up with this music and wants to help steer them back on the right path. That leaves Tom as George Lucas, someone with a very vocal fan base that is extremely displeased he won't be involved in any more chapters with the band, at least for the forseeable future.

I am now picturing him singing the phone book sounding like Olde English 800 and want to actually hear it.

    Things have changed.

Surprised no one has mentioned the three references to space on this album.

I feel like I should buy an Alkaline Trio album this weekend just to contribute to Matt after how much he delivered on California. I've heard them all but I only own Crimson.

Me: "Well, um, now that I'm single... uh, do you, like, think you might wanna, uh... go get some drinks or something? I'd rather not be...left alone."
Matt: ".....yeah, man, I gotta go."

That's actually a solid analogy right there.

    Sleekest of beaks. So Good.

That was one of the stipulations in the agreement with Tom, every album they make without him needs to have A) minimumj 3 space references B) minimum 1 song title containing a space related term(in this case satellites) C) Mention of teenagers relating to space. So Mark, Matt and Travis just jammed them all into one song called Teenage Satellites.

Man you took it far haha. Good work though, these are nice analogies.
