3>1>5>>6>2>>>4 for me. Gen 4 is the worst by a large margin, and gens 3,1, and 5 are all super close calls for the best in my opinion.

2 is my favourite. 1 is second and I'd probably need to revisit to have a solid opinion on where the rest fall. I'm liking this gen a lot so far though.

 

4 has some of the worst but also some of the best. If we're just talking personal favorites anyway.

 

Simisear was just voted as the least favourite Pokemon of Japan lol.


Gen 4 easy worst gen too.

 

Overall: 2/3 > 1 > 6 > 5 > 4

The list could probably change, but 2nd has always been my consistent favorite, with 3 being reeeeeaaally close. 6 and 5 are close but 6 has so much to offer that it overshadows my desire to play 5, despite liking 5's Pokemon more.

Best Pokemon: 1/2/3 > 5 > 6 > 4

(4th gen was a bummer)

 

Really don't like gen 4. Seems like they were trying really hard to be dark, plot wise, and came up short IMO. Also most of the designs are way clunky and all the new evos of the gen 1 and 2 Pokemon don't fit at all

 

Distortion World was cool.

My biggest problem with Pokemon games is that we tend to get the much better games out of the sequels. Yellow, Emerald, Platinum, and BW2 are far superior games. If we had gotten the finished product out of Z, it'd be more of the same. XY Felt very incomplete to me. There are entire chunks of the game where you know they wanted to include more. I just want a game that has it all from the get go. Or one that gives us DLC.

gen 3 runaway worst region

gen 4 not even in the discussion. best starters of any generation hands down, made a lot of previously shitty pokemon great with electivire, honchkrow, gliscor, weavile, ambipom, mamoswine, tangrowth, togekiss, etc. also gave us the physical/special split, revolutionizing the game.

Hoenn is so much better than Sinnoh. I fully believe that every game is better than the last. But Sinnoh was so boring, the dex wasn't good and the game was very slow compared to what came after.
