I did enjoy them switching jokes this weekend

 

That was the best part between them all year

 

... I honestly really like Jost and Che as the WU hosts

 

Personally, I don't think they're bad at the actual act of hosting WU, like in a vacuum. In fact if Che wasn't such an asshole I'd be a big fan of his. They just suck as people and also Jost is a horrible writer/a major reason why the show as a whole is bad.

 

I don't mind Che, but Jost needs to be gone.

 

i feel like Jost is in that camp of people like Fallon and Meyers, where they’re Lorne’s golden boys so they’ll always have guaranteed employment.

Che on the other hand - no idea. The fact that he can accuse a writer of blowing dogs for making fun of Jost and get no blowback from his job shows how much protection he has.

 

Che being an asshole honestly makes him more enjoyable as a WU host. Like even if a joke of his swings and misses, I appreciate him at least trying to stick his neck out a bit. He kinda reminds me of Tina Fey a bit in that sense, tho obviously way less funny

This as opposed to Jost who, like Fallon or Meyers or any other little Lorne disciple as mentioned above, seems to always play it as safe as possible.

At least he shouted out Atamanuik. I guess that feud is over?

 

On the one hand, they should hire Atamanuik because it's the objectively greatest Trump impersonation of all time and Comedy Central just decided to throw away the solid gold they had on their hands with The President Show. On the other hand, though, a lot of the things that make Atamanuik's Trump so good come from his singular grasp of the character and style of humor, which I highly doubt will fly in the Jost-led SNL writer's room.

Basically just let Hammond do it so we at least get a good impression to partially offset the bad writing. Or finally let us see Beck's Trump ffs.

 

They’ll probably just get, like, Tom Hanks or something. We don’t let cast members play politicians anymore, it has to be a random celebrity that doesn’t really make any sense and will probably not be available in future weeks when there’s a big headline involving their character.

At least Baldwin went out on top with that god-awful Don’t Stop Me Now parody. And lol @ him pretty much outright saying Jost taking over writing duties was the problem.

 

It was, the political stuff was better with the old writers even if it wasn’t all great. This season has been a major drag in comparison, it’s just so uninteresting.

 

Everything Jost touches turns to mediocrity
