MY ORDER SHIPPED! Yay! Cannot wait to own this, overplay this Vinyl, and then in 3 weeks get my Spotify plays up.

It will look great in my collection ... maybe I'll put it next to Sister Cities :covermouth:

Yeah, we can leave it at that with TWY. I don't mean to rip that band either. I know they were for a lot of people what TDS were for me, so it's cool that people love their later stuff too.

Definitely can't get on board with liking Golden Record more than War Paint, though. War Paint is one of the most important albums in the world to me and will very likely be in my top five for this decade come the end of the year.

Yeah I’m aware I’m probably completely alone on that one haha. I still think War Paint is a great record, but I didn’t hear the band until 2012 or so and RFTS grabbed me much more. And then Golden Record was the first release cycle I actually experienced as a fan of the band, which probably contributed to the impact that album had on me at the time.

I guess this can be a good conversation starter but for me I dont really view this album as some huge leap forward for them just because they added some synths and vocal effects. I think its more a leap forward in songwriting and structure than anything, which ofc is going to be weathered (hah) to taste but for me its not so much that I'm blown away that they decided to add synths and change a songs tempo halfway through I'm more just blown away that theyre still writing some of their best material and that AJ can still write some cutting lyrics.

to me it seems like a bigger leap coming off of golden record and self titled. if this immediately followed war paint I wouldn’t think it’s a huge unprecedented leap, I feel like it’s more of a natural follow up to that record than the albums that did follow

I would mostly agree, I think the biggest leap is in songwriting, but I’m just as impressed at how they integrated new elements while still retaining the TDS feeling

Agree that this is a bigger jump from S/T than it would’ve been if it had followed up WP or even RFTS. It actually feels the most like RFTS to me, like the starting point for a new era of the band

I can’t recall an album thread that has such overwhelming positive vibes to it regarding an album that hasn’t officially came out yet haha.

Spinning War Paint on the turntable right now, and man, this record is still just all the feels for me. I'm not sure I've ever listened to an album more in a two-month span than I listened to this in July and August of 2011.

  25. i ordered the new pressing of war paint over the weekend, it was only $13! hope it sounds better than the original
