I'm still bummed that I can't listen to Aaliyah on Spotify. Her uncle can go take a hike.

 

Isn’t BlackBook (the record label) the problem there? They’re also holding Jojo’s BlackBook albums hostage, which is why she re-recorded them last year.

Are you thinking Blackground Records? Her uncle Barry Hankerson owned the label and owns the masters to her music and JoJo's older stuff and is reluctant to share any of it digitally. The only Aaliyah album available right now on Spotify is her first album and that's because he doesn't own the rights to it. He's been sued by Timbaland and Toni Braxton too. He sounds like he makes a living trying to screw people over.

 

Yeah Blackground of course. I misremembered the name. I did not know her uncle owned the label. That makes it all even worse.
