I don’t disagree. I almost wanted a longer 6-7 minute song too that took us on a journey through the topic, maybe something autobiographical on people who’s kindness shaped him, and musically followed those stages of life, almost to the point where you forget where the song started, and settles in comfortably at the end.

I loved the historical approach of 1933, but I’ve grown to love a few of the jingle moments like Don’t Worry and Little Changes. Having more teeth and lyrical content, and more energy dispersed over the album would have helped.

On my version of the album I rearranged the tracklist and cut it down to 10 songs. I was really hoping for a couple of gems to eventually come out as b-sides or bonus tracks à la "Least of All Young Caroline", "Little Aphrodite", "Cowboy Chords", "We Shall Not Overcome", "Wanderlust", "The Next Round", etc.

"Bar Staff" is a pleasant enough little song but it doesn't really fit on Be More Kind and in my opinion it doesn't really bring anything to the album either.

I love Cowboy Chords and We Shall Not Overcome is a borderline top 10-15 FT song for me. Unfathomable that one was a B-Side.

    I liked Bar Staff fine.

He's at his best, in my opinion, when the slower songs are in lockstep on an album with the more loud/fast stuff. England Keep My Bones is probably the best example of this?

These sightlines of the second floor of the house of blues are pretty damn terrible and I’m saying that as someone over 6 feet tall

Ugh. I’m grateful to be going tonight but bummed to be up in the mezzanine.

I think Frank really hit his stride with EKMB and TDH - everything he wrote during that period was great.

I personally felt like PSFNP was a step down in quality, but still good.

    BMK... not so much.

Not sure if Frank has said anything publicly about this, but do we know if he is going to go back to doing Lost Evenings in the UK next year?

Looking at all the stuff coming out of Boston this week has convinced me to go next year if so.

Awesome! Deed was my first Frank album and I still hold the title track, Live Fast, and especially Fastest Way in high regard. Magi is also great, and maybe underrated.

It was a very interesting set! He definitely went the very deep cut route which I don’t think did well amongst the crowd. There were several songs only like a handful of people knew.

Was still fun to see some of those songs live! Interesting to see what we get tonight, probably back to his “usual” set for the BMK shows.

On Thursday I had zero tickets to any show, and I ended up going to 3 out of 4, was just given 4 free tickets tomorrow, but will not be attending due to GOT.

    This weekend was excellent.

Out of interest, how much was a ticket for the full weekend? Debating whether it would be worth it to go to Berlin next year for it, and trying to price it all up.

Not totally sure. I didn’t get tickets when they went on sale and got tickets last second to each show.

But I’m DEFINITELY interested in Berlin!

As someone who studied abroad in Berlin, I’ll tell you it’s worth visiting for the city alone. I think a 4 day pass was somewhere around $160-180. The individual days were priced $49.50.

My brother visited last year and said it was awesome. This would be a total good excuse to go.

I could take a week off and then coming back on that Sunday is sweet cause the Monday is Memorial Day.

    It’s possible.

It’s my favorite place in the world. I’ve been meaning to go back and this is the perfect excuse I need. Now I just need to start saving.

The venue is in a lovely part of the city. Easily accessible by the S-bahn, close to the Spree and the East Side Gallery.

After waiting in and out of a queue for about a half hour I got my ticket for Lost Evenings IV!

Although right now it's two tickets because the website wasn't letting me switch my country on my shipping/billing address until after the purchase could be finished. The first sale has an American address with Germany as the country lol

So I bought a second one with my address fixed just so I could be sure I'd get in. Navigating that website is a pain in terms of resolving the first ticket issue so hopefully that'll be manageable in the morning.

About 1/4 way through his new book, really really recommend it. His story telling and insights to his music are fantastic.
