Justin Timberlake Band

Justin Randall Timberlake (born January 31, 1981) is an American singer, songwriter, actor, and record producer. He appeared on the television shows Star Search and The All-New Mickey Mouse Club as a child. In the late 1990s, Timberlake rose to prominence as one of the two lead vocalists and youngest member of NSYNC, which eventually became one of the best-selling boy bands of all time. During the group's hiatus, Timberlake released his debut studio album Justified (2002), which included the successful singles "Cry Me a River" and "Rock Your Body", and earned his first two Grammy Awards.

 

"Drink You Away" was released to country radio in the latter part of last year. One of the finer points of the musical year that got very overlooked. But that's coming from moi, and I'm a country music junkie.

That second album gets played so very little by me. I will be in a JT mood, and start the first of that project, but I never end up going into the second one. I can't tell if it's at this point an underrated album ... or if it's just not every good. Heh.

 

I actually feel the same way. I can't listen to those albums from start to finish without wanting to turn it off and/or listen to something new. There are a select few songs on each disc that are fantastic, but as a whole they both slump, and if anything, the first disc is far better than the second.

 

I agree. That first disc really is great (the only one I ended up buying on vinyl). I have thought about trying to do a combo album and putting together a 20/20 playlist of just my favorites from both albums to see if that helps. I dunno, maybe I'll have to try that this weekend.

Hope you get to hear "Walt Grace's Submarine Test, January 1967." Song floors me. Still so impressed he wrote that. Wish he would tap into that side of his brain on future efforts.

 

Justin Timberlake's duet with Chris Stapleton last year was better than both of the 20/20 Experience albums combined.

 

Still loooove 20/20 Pt 1 but only like three songs from Pt 2.

 

"Mirrors" is easily one of my favorite songs he's ever been a part of, including all his work with NSYNC

Listened to The 20/20 Experience 1 of 1 the other day and it still holds up as a top 5-10 record of the decade for me easily.

 

About a month ago I did a live-snap of listening to this on vinyl. Still can't believe JT was ok with those Jay-Z verses.

 

i havent revisited either 20/20 in a while but future sex/love sounds is still such a fucking incredible record

 

I've never got into Future Sex that much outside a few songs I love.

 

I still listen to 20/20 fairly often, I think that aside from the first two tracks on #2, it holds up very well for me

 

well thats a shame, its one of the best pop albums of that decade.

 

For me he's near the peak of back to back decades, because you're right, FS/LS is phenomenal

 

That's what I hear but every time I've listened to it I found a good amount of the songs actually annoying. It's been a good while since I last listened to it though, probably when 20/20 came out, so I might revisit it soon.

 

Yeah I was just listening to 20/20 Part 1 the other day, and I realized I don't think I've listened to FutureSex in full in years. It's a great album, but I personally think 20/20 Part 1 is his finest work.

 

I think 20/20 Part 2 might be my favorite of JT's. It was a grower, for sure, but it's got a bunch of my favorite Timberlake songs. Murder, Cabaret, Amnesia, You Got It On, Blindness.

 

FutureSex has a few songs I tend to skip, while 20/20 Part 1 is perfect to me. It's crazy how much that album grew on me. I thought it was just ok the first time I listened to it, but it got better with every listen throughout 2013.

 

Still interested to see if this country album from him is a real thing or not

 

on a JT binge currently. Justified and Future Sex are too good. havn't listened to these records all the way through in years.

 

Is there a version of 20/20 that isn't as long? This is the first time I've actually played the whole thing at once and it rules, but man I feel like it drags at times. I understand that it's the whole vibe of the album and I dig that, but like when I'm driving, I don't need 8 minutes of the 3 minute song, if that makes sense.
