Woah this is crazy, I always thought Beilein was a system coach especially on the defensive end (then again I haven't watched CBB a lot since his WVU days and early, early Michigan days). College jump to the NBA is so tough and I wouldn't have expected Beilein to do that, especially given the success he's had at Michigan.

Maybe I missed the news of him interviewing but this feels like it came out of absolutely nowhere lol

 

My first thought was that Dan Gilbert undermined his FO (again) and just did his own hiring, but it came out this morning that Koby Altman did interview Beilein last week and it went undisclosed/unreported.

 

I still think Cavs should have waited until after the Draft Lottery. Should they get No. 1 (or even Top 3), the position becomes much more desirable.

 

Yeah I guess they must have kept it pretty tight lipped because of like, the reaction this is getting now? Lol

 

Plus it sounds like they actually came to an agreement yesterday, but Beilein wanted to wait for official announcement until after he had the chance to tell Michigan administration this morning. My guess is he is the one who requested for privacy?

 

Not a bad hire for the Cavs. The biggest worry is just the college-to-NBA transition, but he's (regrettably) done great things at Michigan with little, true NBA talent. His best players have basically been LeVert, Robinson, Hardaway Jr., Burke and Stauskas, yet he'd still have them doing well in rankings and in tournament play.

 

Overall, I don't hate the hire. I'm glad they didn't hire a retread/recycled/used-up NBA head coach. I just really thought they were going to go the young, hungry assistant coach route, which is what they were trending toward.

I'm seeing now that the Cavs are still going to try and add some of those candidates to the staff so, I don't hate this.

I don't think I've listened to Woj's pod more than once or twice but Lowe's has horrible production so it wouldn't surprise me if Woj's has the same problem

despite my trolling I still think Ben Simmons can be a really good player with the right adjustments so it's not about thinking Ben Simmons sucks. But it's not like LeBron James is declining. He still put up nearly a line of 28/9/9 this season for LA. He's by accounts still the best player in the NBA.

 

unfair to Lonzo because even tho he's a terrible shooter he still at least shoots 3s haha

 

if philly offers simmons for lebron straight up, LA hangs up the phone and leaks the story to woj and a tweet goes out how there’s dysfunction between brand and brown and we’re all posting about how philly is in a worse spot than the lakers
