Are there differences between the standalone album and the film version?

 

the film is only like 24 minutes or something? i think only like 7 of the songs are in it and it also has like other "soundtrack songs" i guess.

i think i'm gonna wait until i've heard the record first...

 

From what I've heard I think the versions of the songs used in the short film are mixed differently to the album, alternate versions almost.

 

Ohhhh for some reason I thought the film was way longer.

 

As per the Q&A I was at, the band sent Mike Mills a bunch of stems from songs and he remade them into the film's soundtrack. Because of this, there's vocal parts from one song overlayed over guitar from another, etc. The versions of the tracks in the short film have a much more experimental and chaotic feel compared to the versions the band played in the live set after the screening.

I was upset how much I had heard and there are still ten songs left

 

The studio versions push certain aspects they explored on SWB more than the live versions hinted at.

 

I’m really enjoying this but my god I can’t wait to listen to Quiet Light again
