So Travis is against sounding like Coldplay but fine with sounding like Imagine Dragons? Weird flex but ok.

  3. My hot take: owning a week is better than owning a day.

Monday: Tour is a huge deal + the (meh) mashup video. Tuesday: Single's coming and get tickets. Wednesday: SINGLE. Friday: Album pre-order? (But even without that, they've been trending on twitter for multiple days with attention on the exact thing they want that day.)

Listening with headphones there's actually a lot to dissect with this song. I feel like there's more layers here than anything on California. I'm a fan of California too.

I feel like this is going to make more sense in the grand scheme of the new album

Yeah, I agree with this. Makes sense for the band.

Although nothing (to me) will beat when FOB came back. Hey guys, we’re back, here’s the single, music video, album release date, tour starts tonight. Obviously unrealistic to expect but that was amazing

Do or do not, there is no try.

Just a gut feeling, but I think we'll be a few weeks from the album announcement.

  9. Great for a comeback for sure.

(Blink's comeback announcement was so damn awkward and it took forever to get music.)

Well to be fair it didn't help that Tom didn't look like he wanted to be there.

Dude Ranch is still their most “mature” release!!!!

Sounds a bit 80's, reminds me of The Wolfpack by AVA

Idk, it sounds a bit dated already to me, but I appreciate the songwriting and is a good indicator of things to come.

That being said, it'll probably get nowhere near as much radio time as BTD.

  13. I'm not even saying I disagree with the Imagine Dragons comparison specifically at the end of the chorus, but Fun. deserve more credit for bringing that kinda sound to choruses than they get IMO.

And Travis's comment makes so much more sense in context about talking about the last album and the sound they were going for:
Tom wanted to sound like U2, to record songs that basically sound like Coldplay. For us, we were always like ‘Blink is Blink, man. We want to sound like fucking Blink-182’… That’s what side-projects are for. I love Blink for what it is. We love Blink and we love the sound of Blink.

And I definitely think this still sounds like Blink-182. New twists, but still very Blink.

Yeah I’m loving the positivity on here. It’s like the day BTD dropped all over again

I would take that bet. hard. I am 100% confident this will catapult the band to unfathomable heights.

I don't remember the response to BTD but everyone was pretty much on board with that single too?

I really like the phrase "not for me" when it comes to politely saying you don't like something and I use it all the time haha. I feel the same as you about Cali (with probably a higher % !) but this song has some of my interest back despite resigning myself to accepting blink "wasn't for me" anymore. Just acknowledging something isn't for you without telling the band to fuck off and die is why this board is better than random twitter or reddit comments!

Hot take ahead... The verses are awesome. I think Mark's is better than Matt's by a whole lot (and I have a heavy Skiba bias). The guitars have a definite Cure feel to them that I love.

I feel like the weird production noises were thrown in to hide a lack of actual transition between the verses and the choruses.

The chorus is alright. Reminds me of a glitched-out version of something Judah & The Lion might do. Definitely not their strongest (at least not on first listen) but I can see this sinking in after repeated listens.

Overall, the production on this is way more interesting than what Feldy brought to the table -- and it's nice to actually hear a definitive difference between Mark and Matt's vocals.

I'm officially excited for the record. They managed to write a "pop" song in a traditional sense (and not something that just panders to current trends). This isn't a cry for Top 40 play; it's just a well-written song that begs for an anthemic sing-along in an arena.

80’s? Huh. I guess when people are saying Simple Creatures, they actually mean Simple Minds. Tubular, dude.

As a longtime Skeeber, I’m happy Matt gets to be front and center on this song. Heavy “Feeling This” vibes for me; dig it.
