I sure do miss their "mature" lyric stage.

 

My two cents on the matter :
- loving the synths and Travis’ drumming
- super catchy
- Matt sounds amazing

I just wish it had a little bit more umph to it. I’m definitely digging a more experimental blink. I just hope there’s a few ‘aggressive’ songs on the new album.

 

2019 is shaping up to be a great year for music in general!

 

My initial thought when the chorus hit was "man this reminds me of Bleachers"

 

best year in recent memory and it's not even close imo

 

The Ceres album is my favorite thing ever. Thank you 2019.

If you go into the Reddit thread for the lyric video, people have actually been surprisingly positive about it. I think most people needed it to sit for a second because the style wasn't initially what they thought it would be. Imagine that

 

Just going to have to accept Blink is no longer for me. I disliked about 70% of California and this is just not my cup of tea. Hopefully the new AVA record is cool - I was only a fan of some their songs here and there but The Dream Walker is pretty great!

like, I don't wanna join in on the whole "fuck the haters" choir, but this song is so inoffensive and inherently pleasant, I really think that having more than a slight distaste for it is cause for some introspection.

 

I'm just really happy that the majority of people here are liking the song. This thread is so much better when we're all enjoying something instead of complaining.

Anyone else think it's a strange day to just randomly drop the single? Like it doesn't line up with the initial tour announcement, it doesn't line up for when the tour tickets are going on general sale, no information was released about the album or preorders or anything.

It's kinda just there. Middle of the day on a Wednesday, just appeared on streaming after the announcement yesterday. Feels very low key.

My only issue with the song really is that I feel like it could definitely be structured better. I don't hate it at all.

 

Second listen and yeah I don’t really like the chorus (although the final chorus is nice) but I enjoy everything surrounding it. I didn’t read reactions before listening but it’s nice to have this sound nothing like I was expecting!

 

Also I enjoy the guitar parts more than anything on California. It makes me want to actually learn it haha

 

I guess, but you'd think they'd want to capitalise on the hype as much as possible. I suppose it's the same week as the tour announcement, but I feel like bands usually drop it side by side with a tour announcement or when the tickets go on sale, or when an album is announced and preorders go up, to maximise the gain from the hype.

I guess if you're a Blink fan, it's all come in a week. Obviously they're just spreading announcements, just feels like usually you get a couple of bits at the same time is all.

I feel bad for all of the people that expected this to sound like untitled because they said they took a similar approach to recording. After a few listens I'm digging it. Now just going to try not to play it too much before the album is released.
