Skibas vocals are so much better than anything he did on California. So much more personality in this song, I love it. It doesn’t sound like a retread of old ideas but it still has those sticky sweet melodies that define what blink is. Im way more into this than I expected to be.

Glad I wasn't the only one hearing it lol. Tried two pairs of headphones too.

  4. I wonder if the song with the "blast beats" that they mentioned awhile ago is going to be on this album too. Thinking about this new single and a heavy song next to it makes me kinda giddy actually. Bring on the craziness!

love to murder people for releasing a song I dislike

  8. I didn't think this is where the first single would be after hearing Cali Deluxe, and boy am I glad I was wrong about that.

I've been begging, practically begging, for years to see this band do something kinda like this. I wrote this in 2016:
Weird thought that may make no sense trying to explain in text: Pull all the electronic stuff out of "Break Free" by Ariana Grande, like stripe it down to just the vocal melody and that chorus pattern. Not the instruments or anything else. Ok, listen to that. That's what I want a new Blink-182 song to sound like. I want a call and return with that ... "lyric, lyric, <pause pause>, lyric lyric lyric lyric." Pull the instruments from the first part, and then have them crash in and speed up the last section of it.

    And this in 2017:
It's a little weird that All Time Low made the progression with their last album that I wanted Blink-182 to make on their deluxe songs.

So when I first heard this song, I got a massive smile on my face. It was an "alright let's fucking go" kinda smile. Not that the song was so knock out incredible (it's grown on me every listen), but that it was the band flexing a little in different directions than I expected, showing me something new, giving a new nod ... and that was what I fell in love with right away because of what it may mean for the album.

Song itself I think is really solid for a lead summer single. It's doing exactly what it needs to do and says more than enough to get me extremely excited for what's to come.

Trying to avoid any comments about the song cause I’m waiting until work is over today to hear it.

Is there any news about album preorders happening today?

Sounds like a Simple Creatures song with Travis on drums and Matt on vocals instead of Alex.

Very interesting they didn't start with a California safe song, they jumped right out with something completely different. Matt sounds fantastic. Not to fill out the Bingo card, but I am definitely hoping we will get a mix of guitar driven tracks on the full album to vary between electronic heavy tracks like this. I think I'm liking this though? It is typically not my cup of tea style, however, Matt's vocals and Travis's drumming is going to keep my attention.

I’m on my third listen and I do like it more and more and am opening up to it.

Not a bad song, but it’s kinda boring overall.

Travis’ drumming is great and I love the first verse, but the chorus has been done to death. I don’t mind blink trying new stuff, never been an issue for me, but it seems like they are behind/the last ones to try these latest “trends”, that it’s hard to find it refreshing

...so it sounds like the lead song writer with the addition of the drummer and other singer?

  14. Soooo... a lot different?

    Things have changed.

Did people listen to Simple Creatures? This doesn't sound like Simple Creatures.

This sounds like Simple Creatures except it sounds like blink

Also too much Feldmann and Lil Wayne on this song

  19. I have a feeling this song won't be indicative of the entire album, and that just makes me even more excited. I'm sure there's going to be more poppy songs like this on it, but I also expect it to be pretty eclectic in the end. I really hope it comes out before the end of June, like they have been hinting at a bit lately.

  20. I like Zakk Cervini's production style ... but he (and therefore Simple Creatures) sounds wayyyy more like Feldman than this does.

Not hating, just pointing out that it is very different from what I expected from blink, and more like a modern 2019 electronic pop song that could've been a song from that side project.

Hoping the rest of the album sounds better.

I absolutely love the breakdown after the bridge with only matt and an acoustic guitar. That man can sing.

Yeah I honestly didn't care for any of the Simple Creatures tracks ... and found myself enjoying this.

Cannot get over Matt on this one.

On an unrelated note - listening to the full Simple Creatures EP for the first time. Pretty good.

Definitely reminds me of (+44) mixed with Kuts era of Matt Skiba & The Sekrets.
