I guess you are referring to the Epicenter thing?

it's all good Brother GDFR.. my only point was Foo Fighters are one of the few (like 4 or 5 existing) bands that even beyond price, logistically for the setup at Douglas Park would be a complete mess if Riot booked them... if they announce Green Day playing Dookie tho, I'm small and short and know how to get around crowds and I'd deal with it

Remember last year after the first wave came out The Kinks said they got back together and people thought they’d possibly be the third headliner? Well, The Kinks still haven’t played a show since they “reunited”. Just thought I’d throw it out there. They’d be good after The B52s or The Stray Cats.

I'm pretty sure they had "reunited," but hadn't even been in the same room. I don't have high hopes for that happening anytime or anywhere.

I also feel the same way about them as I do the Talking Heads/David Byrne. I like them. I actually like the Kinks a lot. But I really don't know that they're a Riot Fest act. They kinda feel just a little too "classic rock" or whatever.

    But who knows?

Just kinda spitballing ideas at this point. I’d love to see The Kinks though!

    Oh, I get it!

I just put certain acts in a "ehhhh, I get that some fans would be into but they aren't really a 'Riot' band and the money would be way better for that artist elsewhere." I could see Green Day or Foo Fighters playing before those acts.

Riot Fest can offer quite a bit of money. But not as much as Coachella. And I really doubt if/when the Kinks or the Talking Heads come back that they'll want to be sure the festival is "the right fit" when they play, which is what went down with the Replacements and Jawbreaker (who I would assume are probably cheaper than the Kinks or Talking Heads would be--by like a lot).

    Whatever. Forever.

Cap'n Jazz did House of Vans and Riot Fest two years ago, might push TBS to a second-wave announcement though.

And I remember Gaslight Anthem played Riot and Lolla in 2012 too.

House of Vans definitely does not rule anyone out, especially TBS.

  14. Yeah, I’d say any of these bands doing House of Vans shows are still fair game for Riot. Give me Converge at Riot and an after show at Cobra or Bottom Lounge.

the idea of seeing Converge three times in one year is too much for my poor heart to take

Lucero is great live, I'm digging most of the bands that seem likely so far.

Lucero was so much fun at Riot Fest back in 2014. I remember drinking a stupid box of wine while watching them and Motion City back-to-back.

Sidenote: The Lawrence Arms are likely out. Opening for Bad Religion at the Riviera in August.

I think they'll still play, likely announced on the second wave of acts.

And regarding big gets, I think after last year we should pump the breaks a little and just hope for a fun, balanced lineup. Honestly? If you get The Cure and Blink-182 as your top two acts, that's a great set of headliners on their own. I'd be fine at that point getting maybe the final Chicago slayer show and/or Bikini Kill on the final day. Works for me!

Do you still think we're getting The Cure? After hearing about that Los Angeles festival they're curating and reading that article that came out Friday I feel like they aren't very likely.

Larry Arms being out is a huge bummer since they play every 2 years

I think last year's line-up was really fun and very balanced. It would be really cool if they pulled off another big or unique get this year, though.

So long as they can pull off a strong set of subheadliners and an undercard, along with some "Hey, I'll check it out, I guess" headliners"? I'll be happy.

You forgot the quotes around "Black Flag." Christ, that just needs to stop... That shit is preventing Flag from recording and releasing new music (which, frankly, I could use in my earholes these days).

Well, there's still hope for the Wandering Birds, I suppose?

That's what I was thinking. You don't pass up a Bad Religion tour, though.
