So, if the members are good, but they get crappy writing, when was the last time they had 'quality' writing?

Season 42 (2016-17) had some great writing.

I realize this might be redundant to bring up, but I would really like Jost and Che to vacate the desk and bring in some fresh blood next season. Weekend Update was always a nice breath of fresh air on this show, but now it couldn’t end quickly enough. Their jokes are so lazy and plain uninspired. They haven’t earned the clout they believe they have, in my eyes.... and Che is a god awful crybaby dickhead outside of the show anyway, but I digress. (Jost sucks a lot, too, but his smugness seems to precede him, so he can pound sand too.)

I want two females hosting a la the all-too short-lived pairing of Tina and Amy, or go back to a Fey-Fallon/Poehler-Meyers-esque combo. Just been bugging me how bad WU is after rewatching all the 2006-2014 episodes recently.

There are some super talented people on the writing staff who make weird sketches like this

The show also has no idea how to handle our current political era where you have to have bite with political satire, and other issues, but it's always been inconsistent

I immediately welcomed Cecily coming on as a temp host but wished she stayed.

Cecily was good but tbh I'd rather the WU host(s) remain someone who isn't really in the sketches. I don't know why, I just feel like it works that way. Jost and Che need to go though, for sure.

It might just be because it's when I started religiously watching every week but I think the cast with Hader, Samberg, Wiig, Sudeikis, Armisen, Forte, Meyers, Moynihan, etc is the best cast the show had since the original

I know we’ve moved on form the Sandler movie talk but I also always thought Click was very underrated. It has a couple of dumb moments but I thought overall was pretty good.

Click was great. I thought it was gonna be some stupid family comedy and I watched it cause it was on, wound up ugly crying in my dorm’s common room in the middle of the afternoon.

lol same. I saw it in theaters with my g/f at the time and I was not at that point a crier at movies and it got to me.

Click got me misty eyed twice in theaters. Something I never thought I'd get out of a Sandler flick.

Glad for more Click love. I didn't want to be the first to say it choked me up, but it did and definitely didn't expect that haha

Yeah Click is one of his worse ones for sure. It's also probably the last time he at least attempted to hide the contempt he has for his audience and it didn't work one bit. The one good thing you can say about all of his movies from Chuck & Larry onward is that he isn't trying to hide what they are anymore lol

The only legitimately emotional part is when he tells Henry Winkler to leave him alone, and then he sees how sad he is. And that’s only because Henry Winkler is a national treasure.

Also, Rob Schneider in one of his famous racist roles, which has aged quite well :eyeroll:

I honestly can't even remember Rob Schneider in that movie. I assume he was in it because it's Rob Schneider and Adam Sandler but I can't remember him in it lol

Isn’t that the movie with the creepy af makeup/CGI on the older actors to make them look younger?

I get all of them confused, because he did the same in Anger Management too. One of them he plays a stereotypical Chinese character, and the other a stereotypical Middle Eastern. All in all, he's guilty of just being shitty in general, so it all works out, regardless of the movie.

I've been listening to Brooks Wheelan's podcast and all the episodes with SNL people are great. Lots of random SNL stories.
