How did Bronn just waltz in to winterfell with a crossbow and fin Jamie and Tyrion? I know the ineptitude of the winterfell gate guards has been shown but come on.

I dont think it would be too hard for bronn to talk his way around that - he has been an ally to jaime and tyrion for the entirety of the show thus far.

Having the Starbucks in the shot is inexcusable, but it’s not something that I’m going to get hung up on or probably ever think about again unless it’s brought up.

lol....Not the first time they've had the coffee cup incident.

Jaime is holding a coffee cup during Joffrey and Margery's wedding ceremony IIRC

Yeah I never would have noticed it, because even during a rewatch I'd be studying Dany's face more than anything else.

That cup being there is hilarious, but there's stupid little shit and bloopers in every series, so it's not a big deal to me.

The more I think about this episode the more I like it. I'm not interested in getting tangled up in stuff like with the ballista or them being able to sneak up and shoot them when they're not looking or other logistical nitpicks like that. I'm sure pretty much every show could be nitpicked to death if you hold them to that kind of standard, so it's easy for me to ignore here.

I'll go back to the Brienne/Jaime sex scene and that still is the only thing I dislike about it and the more I think about it the more it annoys me. It makes me think of Mad Men (spoilers in case people here hasn't watched that whole series) in that I always viewed their relationship more like a Don/Peggy relationship: extremely close peers who are equally talented and admire each other and how LAME it would've been if one night they got wasted and hooked up at the office. How uninteresting and typical would that have been? Ugh[/spoilers]

Otherwise, I think it was a great episode and was on par with episode 2, or maybe even slightly ahead of it due to the last 5-10 minutes or so.

Its just super indicative of laziness/carelessness. I have been massively disappointed with the writing the last few seasons but shit like this makes me wonder if everyone else who works on the show is putting in their best efforts.

Wow that coffee cup thing is another level of funny. Have to go back and look at it in the actual episode.

Perhaps he knows this will lead to Dany's downfall and let it happen so Jon gets the throne

Minor thing but if that was the last shot of Sam and Gilly I would have liked a little more explanation as to where they are going. Horn Hill? Oldtown? North of the Wall with Tormund? And doesn't Sam have the book that helps prove Jon has a claim to the throne?

Tormund's arc feels over so I don't mind him leaving

I thought I saw someone mention that in the episode it’s stated the north still has half their army left? It did I not read that right?

Still not sure how Tyrion survived Cersei yet again

Did you notice they included the basement ballista in the new intro? I was completely expecting at least one of the dragons to get shot down because of that, though definitely not from a ship.

    Some thoughts after that episode:

    - I enjoyed the scene with Bronn and the brothers, even if his character seems even more superfluous now that he's decided to sit out the conflict.
    - While I agree that the way the show seems to be crafted around just getting to certain plot beats is not ideal, it's also something that doesn't surprise me at all. It's been like that since they passed the books, and honestly, I'm fine with it (so long as we do eventually get the last two books!).
    - Since the theory about the Night King heading to King's Landing was obviously not a thing, maybe the empty throne visions of both Bran and Dany will still come to pass? Dany's did show a single dragon flying over King's Landing, too, which fits now that she's down to one.
    - Varys must've made those Golden Company map markers himself. Speaking of which, they made a point out of mentioning how outgunned Cersei seems to be, while only mentioning the GC in passing. I guess 20,000 sellswords aren't what they used to be?
    - I'm pretty much expecting nearly every character in King's Landing to die. Dany's army will probably kill most of the civilians initially, and then maybe Cersei will level the whole city herself with some more wildfire. If they went to the trouble of building all of those ballistas, you've got to assume she also made a ton of new wildfire batches as a contingency plan.

This was my biggest complaint of the whole episode. WHY IS DROGON SO CLOSE TO THE GATES? AND IF YOU'RE CERSEI WHY AREN'T YOU JUST SHOOTING AT HIM IMMEDIATELY????

Also, you don't deserve Ghost, Jon. But otherwise I really enjoyed this episode.

People will keep bringing up the starbucks cup thing but its worth mentioning I actually enjoyed that segment last night, with the way Tormund is framed in the foreground splashing his wine as he sings Jon’s praises, while Dany pouts in the background and awkwardly lifts her goblet in response. I think one thing that keeps me going is the hope that Dany will go fully batshit.

I saw a joke online that Cersei is a pirate now so she has to respect parley. Nothing else really makes sense for why she didn’t just end the whole thing there, as if she has ever made a decision based on how “likable” it made her among the people.
