this movie ruled. i had to not start ugly crying with stark.

so many little things keep popping and just fill me with joy.

a great shot early on in the movie really set the tone for where we were going was them jumping to light speed to get thanos and you get a great reflection of space in Cap's eye. Really were in the endgame!

Thors triumphant I KNEW IT! when Cap picked up the hammer filled me with so much joy.

Also I can't wait until theres a high res version of that shot of him standing alone against Thanos' army. That was some LOTR shit.

Wanted to reply to this before I forget. As someone who has suffered from panic attacks since I was a kid, knowing full well the terror of a complete loss of control and feeling like I’m literally dying, yeah that moment really bothered me. I feel like it was a real missed opportunity for another moment of pathos for Rocket. If they had just had Rocket look at Thor and tell him hey, focus on me, it’s going to be okay, and then maybe even have him tell Thor to count down from ten with him or something like that it would’ve demonstrated another beat of empathetic character growth for Rocket while also displaying one simple way you can actually try helping someone in the middle of an attack. People might have even still gotten a laugh out of the sight of Thor and a raccoon counting to ten together while bonding. I dunno. Yeah that irritated me. Thank god no one has ever slapped me and told me to snap out of it while I’m struggling to breathe and my limbs are locking into place.

    Die rad.

What was the significance of Capt holding the hammer? Obviously I knew it was a huge deal, but I cant remember why.

Just that he is worthy to possess the power of Thor.

    Assume It's A Bit

Back in Age of Ultron, during the party scene where everyone tried to hold the hammer, Cap nudged it a bit, so people have been waiting for him to properly wield it.

    So assuming that this weekend...

Does anyone else want to see Shuri take on the Riri Williams/IronHeart role now that Stark is gone? I think with her technological expertise and access to Vibranium she'd be a perfect fit.

yeah honestly a major downside of this while thing was how Thor's PTSD was handled. obviously they want to still lean into Hemsworth's comic instincts but they struck a really awkward balance here. I mean Iron Man 3 handled Tony's PTSD a lot better than this did Thor's, not something you ever expect to say about IM3

If they go that route. The kid from Iron Man 3 was at Stark’s funeral so they may be planning on him taking the role of Iron Man in a young Avengers group.

He tried to lift it in Ultron but he only could slightly move it. Here, it shows he was worthy enough to lift and use the hammer.

I’m wondering if Nova and Adam Warlock are going to show up in Guardians 3.

Agreed and I think this is already becoming a fairly resounding and divisive critique online. It’s bizarre that a guy in a “fat suit” is still being used as a sight gag let alone that they then top it off with awkward jokes about his mental health. He gets “snap out of it” and “eat a salad” thrown at him which are, weirdly enough, the exact comments you’d see on social media (“just relax”, “go on a walk”, “eat some veggies”, etc.) from people who think those are sensible critiques while failing to understand the depths of pain. My audience was howling with laughter every time he showed up on screen. They even cracked up when Thor stuck his hand out to shake Valkyrie’s and we got a close up of his hand with his gut sticking out behind it.

ugh yeah the more you mention it the more I realise how bad those gags are. when Hulk mentioned Thanos's name and Thor went really quiet - a moment Hemsworth absolutely nailed btw - I thought ok, there was this silly fat joke to bring in some levity but now they're gonna actually explore how Thor's been damaged by all these events. but uh... nope, right back to the cheap shit for the whole rest of the film.

hopefully unexpected humanist James Gunn treats him and the audience better!

A friend of mine from work doesn't like the movie because it spent time on "Thor crying to his mommy," and that's how I knew he had bad taste.

Forgive me while I delve into Endgame merch I would like to see, now that we got so many amazing reveals:
    1. Funkos of Professor Hulk, Husky Thor, Captain America wielding the hammer and/or broken shield, and maybe Korg in that shirt, similar to his personal funko.
    2. Artwork of that wide shot where Cap faces down Thanos' army.
    3. Literally anything by Hot Toys. They've announced some figures, however nothing yet based on the things we learned last night. The uber nerd in me would love a Stark/Hulk 1:1 scale Gauntlet similar to their Infinity Gauntlet, but I'm not counting on that one.

One of the few, few, minor issues I had in the film (that ultimately doesn't matter): the scene where they're playing Fortnite. I think the first Avengers film did this well with Tony calling out that Shield agent for playing a video game on the ship. It was an old school video game. Does Disney own some shares of Fortnite's parent company? I just don't see why they needed that otherwise…

I did love Thor talking trash over the chat mic, though.

Yeah. I was at least appreciative that they had Bruce being gentle with Thor when he first encounters him. Wish there had been more of that.

As for Thor’s mom, I definitely thought for a moment at the end that they were going to pull a narrative cheat with her and have her approach him on the hillside because she got the hint about what he was trying to tell her in the past.

Oh and I’m also curious about the logistics of the return. Based on what Peter tells Tony, it would seem the “decimated” returned exactly where they vanished with little to no knowledge of what happened or awareness of the passage of time (which, if we’re talking PTSD for those left behind...good god try to imagine what it’d be like to be standing in one spot and then a second later you’re still standing there and then someone turns to you and says “oh you’ve been missing for five years now by the way”.)

Would really suck if you disappeared while flying in a plane.

I'm never going to be able to unhear/unsee this now, damn you!!!! :crylaugh:

EDIT: I thought Peter's delivery of the line when he shows up did a comedic way of addressing that PTSD, but still food for thought.
