My records collection in my apartment and am moving into a house so I had this pile of unopened mailers that I decided to put them in my vinyl moving boxes. I opened that one not thinking in front of my mother in law. I'm hoping she didn't actually see it cause she was packing as well.

 

The Home Box Office has gone back on their word and canceled this, the bastards.

I still hate that album art. I really enjoy the album, but haven't bought it on vinyl for that reason alone.

 

My record store put a bunch of spongebob stickers over the naked parts--pretty awesome. Yeah, I hate this album cover. You can argue it's artsy, but that just speaks to the more pretentious parts of this record. Like the first spoken work track, or a sound collage. Give me a break

 

I honestly feel like that album is why two of the members quit. Christian I think is very out there in left field and almost wants to make you feel uncomfortable with what he does. Honestly I don't understand the spoken word intro (as does the rest of the band) and the necessity of the interludes. The songs them self I think are great though.

Got Hot Fuss and Sink or Swim on the same day. Great day for debut albums.

 

two members didn't quit, just one (Ben) and he left because he didn't want to tour anymore.

I don't like the spoken word intro much either but it is what it is, still I would hardly call Christian's ideas "pretentious"

 

may be interesting to note, at the show i went to in Seattle, Christian introduced Jade (who is taking Bens spot this tour)... and Christian said "This is our friend Jade, he has played with us before blah blah.... Ben isnt on this tour because... well, he didnt want to leave home and go on tour for 3 months, which is totally understandable".

no bad blood. id bet we see Ben on tour with the Hotelier again in the future.

 

so this just happened. now im excited.

 

the comments in here about hotelier are what i expected more people on this site to feel like, lol.

These look amazing. I haven't ordered yet because of the vinyl delays, but I ought to soon.

 

Yeah man, really happy with how they turned out. Glad I was able to get in on this pressing. The Cerulean & Coral variant looks great as well.

 

If you had to recommend one dollar bin record to someone, what would it be?

Got my copies of Goodness in the mail today, was really pleasantly surprised by how nice the packaging is - really nice, thick jacket, the o-strip looks great, the printed inner sleeves are really nice, Tiny Engines has outdone themselves with this one.

And speaking of great packaging, also got my copy of the new Told Slant record, which is one of the nicest-looking releases I've bought this year. That die-cut gatefold is gorgeous.

 

I have the the re press from a couple years ago with alternate artwork, but this is still enticing.
