So Russ is going to be getting roughly 18% of the salary cap this year, but will end up being closer to 16-17% by the end of the deal.

We're going to see a $40,000,000 a year QB contract within 5 years. It'll be Mahomes, if he can keep up how he's played so far.

 

That being said, if we can sign Dak to a 4 or 5 year contract for $28-$30 million a year now, I'd do that in a heartbeat. That would be around 15-16% of the cap, which is pretty much the going rate for a franchise QB on the market.

Honestly, the worst part of NE's success the last two decades is its ensconced in the league the idea that being an irredeemable asshole is somehow something to aspire to.

 

I'm honestly not sure I'd agree with this take (Cue: "oh great, here comes the Pats fan.)

Hear me out though: Of Bill's coaching tree, NONE have found success. McDaniels couldn't have been run out of Denver any quicker. Patricia will not survive this season in Detroit. What's his face who was with the Jets didn't last long and is out of the business. Anyone who looks at Bill and says, I'm gonna behave that way too, is just dumb and ignoring the obvious. Bill does it because he's allowed to because from basically the moment he showed up the team has enjoyed unprecedented success and he has the job security of a Supreme Court Justice.

I honestly don't think Flores is gonna do his best Bill impression, and I don't think it's super unreasonable to not really wanna get into injuries and rehabs and whatnot when the season is forever from now.

 

The press oversteps their boundaries consistently, so I usually get a kick out of sports icons being totally uninterested in giving them a bone. That's one of the reasons I DON'T hate Belicheck haha. He's deflecting any possible chance they could form a storyline out-of-context.

He doesn't yell or get mad he just looks at you like a disappointed grandfather. And takes 40 full seconds of silence before he dismisses your frivolous, pointed question. And it's great lol

See, thats exactly why I find the statement to be so childish. If some people are still injured, it doesnt matter, because no meaningful games are happening for 5 months. Team ended with 13 guys on IR last season, at least two players had surgery at or near the end of the season, just saying "Reshad and Jakeem will be ready for mini-camp" or something isnt a big ask.

These coaches forget their overpaid cogs in the machine, their job is to keep feeding news even in the off season. Just going blanket silence usually ends up with you looking stupid (see: Colts + Luck)

 

He may honestly not know? He may not want to discuss injury information during the season and doesn't want to set the expectation now that it's gonna be a topic of conversation. Have you heard the clip? I haven't so idk the tone like if he was a jack ass about it or was just like moved off it.

I can see why someone wouldn’t want to volunteer injury updates in April so that people can use it to make you look stupid in August and September
