The Rose trade was perfectly fine for all parties. Gives the Knicks some flexibility by taking on shorter term money without giving too much up and creating an attractive situation for a third (fourth?) star; gives Chicago a chance to move on from Rose and replace a guy in Noah they knew was leaving with a reliable talent who's locked in for a few years at a good price while the cap goes up.

Downsides are Chicago moving on from a star while they need to keep JB happy, and moving Rose to replace Noah is a 2-for-1 that they'll have to address some other way. NYK has totally eliminated their PG depth, which is slightly problematic given that they don't currently have a draft pick. That said, I still think both ended up in a better position than they were in before.

 

The knicks will also have to start playing kyle o Quinn real minutes... Oh man

curious when the last time, if ever, an MVP winner was traded. granted Rose has (two) huge asterisks next to his name, but still, i can't imagine MVP winners get traded very often.

 

Nash was traded to LA, in a sign and trade deal in 2012.

If you don't count a sign & trade, Garnett was traded in 2007

Oh and Barkley said LeBron is not top 5 all-time. MJ, Oscar, Russell, Wilt, Magic as his top 5 and he said "that's never going to change".

 

I love Oscar and that 72 Bucks team is one of my favorite ever, but putting him top 5 seems crazy.

Also the show kinda sucked and Barkley is mehhhhhhhhh and a bad interview (also usually wrong). Wish we woulda gotten podcasts during the finals instead of that weak interview. Bill isn't ready for TV and it shows.

 

Did Ben Affleck participate in a drinking game where he had to take shots every time Simmons brought up Deflategate before filming? What an awful debut show. God damn. I've seen better YouTube shows. Bill is reading cue cards in the weirdest angles. What a disaster... out dated references before your show airs? Weird set changes? Bad editing? Wow. HBO is doing three seasons and 20m for this?! Uh oh.

The show felt exactly like those old Grantland YouTube videos he used to make. Which is just insane.

 

I thought he was just going to be interviewing people and talking about sports? Maybe they tried too hard the first time. Either way I dont have HBO so idk.

 

I didn't watch the show, but isn't it just him hosting and nobody else, except the guest(s)? I've always found the the only time he's even remotely decent onscreen is when he has other people to reel him in. He needs to kind of be controlled or have a mediator, and if it's just him it's always a trainwreck. He's always been out of his element on tv.

 

I hope the Warriors go 0-82 so I never have to hear Lacob talking about how his Silicon Valley techniques make his NBA team god's gift to basketball again.

What do you figure Young is worth, a fringe lottery pick? Or maybe like 15-17.

George hill got the 12th pick, Thad young is in that tier at his position so that sounds about right. Sean marks seems like a really bright guy, we'll see.
