Thank you for providing a link @Borat I should have done so
But honestly outside of a few posts on my Facebook I’m in the same boat as Anna. Way too heated by all the people comparing her to r kelly and Cosby to be able to form many coherent thoughts tbh

The main thing I’ve been reiterating is that I don’t think it’s my place as a white woman to place judgement on what a black woman had to do to survive in a world that actively oppresses black women. Like...not my place.

it's so aggravating for these dudes to be like 'lol you fell for it! you guys are suckers'.

'you took sexual assault seriously? lol loserrrrrr'

Yeah I meant to say something about how comparing her to someone like Cosby or R. Kelly is wildly off-base and deliberately disingenuous. Hope it didn't seem like I was coming from that place, because I am not.

Drugging someone without their knowledge is never okay. That is a given. That being said, there is a WORLD of difference between someone like Bill Cosby drugging a women so he can have sex with her whether she wants to or not and a female of color who is a sex worker drugging and robbing a ‘John’. The two situations only bear the most superficial, surface level similarities. There are no important parallels between the two situations at all. I have to believe those claims are being made in bad faith, or the people making them are complete and utter fucking morons.

Also as far as I know, Bill has denied his horrible actions, Cardi had brought it up in the spirit of being remorseful about it and being grateful for changing her ways. It doesn't excuse anything but it makes a giant difference compared to Cosby along with the actual actions.

Bill thinks he's innocent and that because he knocked out women before they said no he's in the clear. That was his defense.

I don't want to defend Cardi's actions, they're pretty fucked up. But its not comparable to serial sexual assaulters like Cosby and Kelly.

  10. Especially because following that logic, they didn't say she couldn't rob them... but I know folks aren't making those arguments because they care about logic.

I can't believe that was his actual defense. Holy shit.

I think it would be neat it if, instead of bullshit like #SurvivingCardiB or people using this situation to somehow defend people like Bill Cosby or R. Kelly, this lead to increasing awareness and concern about the dangers and challenges sex workers face, particularly sex workers from already marginalized communities.

Was the Dee Barnes GoFundMe info posted in here? Her situation is absolutely abhorrent and I'm so annoyed when u Google Dr. Dre it's all about his daughter being accepted into college and not the viral campaign about what a waste of life he is

yeah it's weird when the couple stays together a long time and that age gap suddenly becomes more acceptable? Like my gf has a friend who is I think like 21 and her BF is 25, but they've been dating for like 5 years, so when they started dating it was 16-20 which IMO is very (that would be HS senior dating uni freshman) but now they're a very normal couple that lives together and don't have any sign of being a toxic or bad couple or anything.

people can mourn xxx all they want. they should just do it in private and not use their public platform to do so.

Yeah. I’m not personally interested in going after her for this because I know how much I’ve grown since that age and how many harmful beliefs I harbored and doubled down on. That being said, I don’t think anyone is in the wrong for wanting to call her out. She absolutely should not be talking about x publicly like this.

She's 17 years old but all that means is that she's still young enough where she maybe needs to be educated about why it's harmful to publicly mourn human garbage like XXXtentacion. She shouldn't get a pass from having to have that conversation just because she's young, all her age means is that we shouldn't ascribe any malicious or willfully ignorant intent to her mourning of him. She shouldn't be attacked or dragged on social media for it, obviously. It's the same thing when people were attacking poor Elsie Fisher on twitter for being excited about Rami Malek winning awards for Bohemain Rhapsody. She needs to be given the opportunity learn and grow.

That said, if she's given that opportunity and chooses to defiantly double down on the mourning, then that's a different story.

Not trying to defend that, but I legitimately wonder how clued in he is to exactly what went down with Pinegrove both before and after they came back. Also can't discount the possibility he read the Pitchfork piece, thinks everything is fine now, and isn't aware of all of the other details that people on this site have been made aware of. I know that if I wasn't on Chorus I 100% wouldn't have any clue about the fact that ESH has been misrepresenting the feelings of the victim during the band's comeback attempt. Either way hopefully someone lets him know if he doesn't know.
