A recently discovered maybe unpopular opinion of mine: revisited Sugarcult's discography and Lights Out is the only album that holds up as a whole for me still.

Palm Trees and Powerlines half holds up. There are still some great songs on there and like half stuff that I don't care about.

Start Static doesn't hold up at all imo.

 

Memory still rules. The others I can take or leave

 

She's The Blade, Memory, Worst December, Destination Anywhere, and Head Up were the ones that I still enjoyed on PTAPL

 

Texas is the Reason has somehow become more underrated with time

 

I still enjoy most of Palm Trees, but yeah it's not as front-to-back for me anymore like I used to think it was. Definitely still my favorite of theirs though. My unpopular Sugarcult opinion is that I could never really get into Lights Out

 

One of the biggest issues with their music that I have noticed is that they wrote really good verses and bridges, but a lot of their choruses on non-singles (even on Lights Out) tended to be very generic by comparison.

I feel like that held them back from being a much more memorable band.

 

This might be the most anyone has talked about Sugarcult since the Bush administration

 

Yeah, I actually hear you on that. The songs of theirs that miss the mark for me are usually ones where I take issue with the choruses

 

Tim writing and producing all the Neon Trees songs will always amaze me

 

Boys Life for me...I think, maybe...although there are a lot of great bands that only put 1 album or less out

 

Id swap DA and HU with crying and counting stars but otherwise yes I agree

 

Hats off to the Bull wasn't their last album though.

But seriously it took my a bit for North Corridor to grow on me, so even though I love it now I can't fault that opinion.

 

I’m still on that Keane kick. “She Has No Time” is a killer.

 

New Keane album (sort of) announced!!!

No title or release date, but they confirm they are finishing up and will be releasing it this year.

Everyone in real life makes fun of them every time I ever mention them, and I honestly think they are so good.

 

Forgot to respond to this. I can understand not being big on on Head Up. The chorus is pretty weak. The main reason why I still like it is because I'm a sucker for the riff in the verses haha.

 

(It's because they're laughably twee)

Excessively quaint or sentimental. They're the sort of band who used to have their releases marketed by supermarkets over here because they were so completely middle of the road.
