I agree with domo. It's all just too much bullshit on top of each other. Maybe one of these angles could have worked as a stand-alone if done in a nuanced way but together this is all just nonsense. They have handled the hottest storyline since Daniel Bryan in one of the worst ways possible.

 

Amazing, right? They were gifted an obvious story line from one of their workers and they've just bungled it spectacularly.

The current angle could have worked if Ronda was selling an "I hit harder than anyone else" version of "its fake". That Becky's been facing "wrestlers", whereas Ronda is a fighter, and even Charlotte couldnt handle her. Then the way she's squashed the Riott Squad would make sense for the build. Throw in a few dominating matches over Nia/Tamina as well, and you'd actually have a great underdog story for Becky. Similar to how they worked Nia/Bayley in NXT. Or how they built Finn/Brock. Instead its one of 15 different pieces and not done well.

Feels like the eventual shoot interviews on this in a few years are gonna be wild, because the story has changed every week.

Bullet Club kinda lost me a while ago, but this video is kinda hype. Until you realize you have no idea who it is.

 

Ronda as an outsider who doesn't conform to what a wrestler should be or how they should act could've worked in a real, hateable "fuck the fans" way as opposed to the cartoonish portrayal that Heyman puts out or the dumb as all fuck "please don't show up to our events" shit they pulled with Lesnar last time he feuded with Roman.

But that would require no McMahons and not changing your story every single week.

other than eyes on the product for the wrong reasons, none - but i don’t get why people assume WWE have anything to do with it. they haven’t acknowledged it. Becky and Ronda both handle their own twitter accounts and it’s not like WWE is gonna punish Ronda this close to a payoff. they can prob get away with whatever they want to.

 

It’s like they raided NJPW a couple of years just because they could. What a waste.

 

Real talk: what if this leak is just trying to overalue them so AEW spends more money?

 

The idea that Ronda isn't, at the very minimum, receiving direction on this from people high up in the company is to me on the same level as thinking that it's a shoot. Both seem absolutely crazy to me, at least on the surface, though crazier things have happened in wrestling.

This is their biggest match in years and has been primarily a social media feud for months. I don't buy that they just say "whatever, go" when it comes to that stuff. Not with this match. It's why it's hard for me to heap all the blame on Ronda. She's not a wrestler; she's too dumb to know any better. The company co-signing this, either tacitly or explicity, while also fucking up every other part of the feud is what really annoys me.
