Defeater Announce New Album

This is absolutely fabulous news ❤️

 

Was hoping for a new Defeater album this year. Song is ok, sounds a little too much like their last album though. Also, the vocals are mixed way too low, can barely distinguish any words as his voice just blends with the instruments. Idk, I'm still looking forward to hearing more, but this song doesn't get my hopes up.

 

Was on a Defeater binge today. This is good news.

Finding the sound + family lyrics combo to be a bit grating at this point, but they're still my favorite band you can type with one hand.

 

Vocals are always too low in his mixes lately, can’t stand it.

 

That’s a bold ass statement lmao. Band rocks though, Travels is one of the best hardcore records ever.

 

Can't hear the song right now. Whose perspective is this one gonna be from, the older brother?

 

Do you find all of his work suffers with these issues? There's some albums that sound terrible (Title Fight's Hyperview springs to mind immediately, Turnover's albums), but other albums like the Menzinger's most recent sound great to me.

 

Maybe an unpopular opinion, but I feel like Derek's screams sound worse than they ever have. Travels and ED&SN are still my favorite, not that any of the rest is bad.

 

I'm not a big fan of his production style and that sound, but find some albums succeed despite it. The Menzingers are a good example of that, but I still don't love the production on it and find the levels off and the sound too thin for my taste.

I believe it might be the father's brother, but I'm sure we'll get clarification closer to release date.
