You can listen to Lostprophets because the music isn't going away; the band, however, broke up. Ian Watkins is still in jail and isn't seeing any of the money that band might generate.

As I Lay Dying are actively touring with a convicted attempted murder who conspired to have his wife killed, served two years of his sentenced six, and attempted to sue the jail for not giving him steroid withdrawal meds. There's a difference - you're continuing to put money in his pocket.

Support whoever you like, but don't be surprised if people give you shit for it.

Am I the only one who hopes there’s a fourth band on the adtr tour? I probably need to give Boston Manor another spin but they just didn’t click with me.

 

Some of their shorter runs recently have only been 3 band bills (ADTR, PWD, State Champs // ADTR, Moose Blood, Wage War)

 

This is an appropriate venue for discussing accountability issues around a band that's actively going on tour and added openers to their tour today. Seems relevant enough to me. If it's bothering you, you can always use the handy dandy ignore function.

 

By that logic, I shouldn't be posting about 2/3 of the bands in this thread. :)

It's, at least, way better than signaling praise for a dude that tried to murder his wife.

 

I don’t really care if not supporting a dude who wanted his wife dead makes me have a holier than thou attitude. Maybe I am holier than thou?

You omitted the parts where I acknowledged people can make their choices on supporting the band or that Tim's crime that he committed was awful.

Not a fan of virtue signaling. One can act one way on an internet forum to gain favor and popularity and then be a completely despicable person away from the keyboard. Not a fan of someone trying to have their significant other killed? Cool. Neither am I. You'd be hard-pressed to find a lot of people in this forum (or in general) that are cool with murder, domestic violence, misogyny, exclusion of women from tour and festival line-ups, or other issues frequently tackled on here.

Does Tim deserve scrutiny for what he did? 100 percent. But he's not the only person (let alone musician) to go to prison for something egregious. Some of those that get out prison fall back into their old ways and commit the same crime or fail to express remorse for their actions and care more about how their lives were impacted (looking at you, Brock Turner). If Tim has taken steps to change himself, and wants to counsel others having issues holding them back that can impact them once they leave prison, I don't see how it's bad for me to at least recognize that and factor it into my perception of him.

I’m confused as to why people get upset that bands tour with bands that don’t have girls in it? If I was a band I’d tour with bands who made music I liked at the time and could care less what gender
