This article has been imported from chorus.fm for discussion. All of the forum rules still apply.

    The New York Times:

Some now say that Adams’s rock-star patronage masked a darker reality. In interviews, seven women and more than a dozen associates described a pattern of manipulative behavior in which Adams dangled career opportunities while simultaneously pursuing female artists for sex. In some cases, they said, he would turn domineering and vengeful, jerking away his offers of support when spurned, and subjecting women to emotional and verbal abuse, and harassment in texts and on social media. The accounts have been corroborated by family members or friends who were present at the time, as well as by correspondence from Adams reviewed by The New York Times.

GOD FUCKING DAMMIT. WHY IS EVERY MAN A PIECE OF SHIT?

  9. Because all of humanity is totally depraved, but some people get better (worse?) opportunities to explore the sick depths of that depravity?

You were the first person I thought of when I saw this news posted. I'm sorry. While the main thing that needs to be mourned over in this situation, of course, is the irreversible sexual/emotion abuse that was afflicted upon so many women, it's also a valid thing to mourn the loss of a beloved artist and the tainting of music that has meant so much to so many people. For both of these things, I feel terrible and I mourn with you. :/

"Mr. Adams unequivocally denies that he ever engaged in inappropriate online sexual communications with someone he knew was underage"

    Yeesh.

Adams has always been a bit of an asshole. So I guess I'm not entirely surprised it runs deeper than just "he's mean". What a shame.

  15. And to think the media gave him credit for Phoebe Bridgers' early success. The quotes from him are just nasty.

Thanks man. I'm a bit speechless, to be honest. I never thought Ryan was "likable," per se, but I didn't think...this. A lot of time and emotion invested in his music over the past 15 years that I wish I could get back. But that's nothing to the women in this article, who literally had their spirits broken/their passion for music destroyed because this dude was a manipulative, emotionally abusive creep. Fuck that and fuck him.

Fuck - my most listened to artist and the reason I picked up a guitar. My best friend had his first dance at his wedding to a DRA song... ugh, I keep thinking of moments and songs that I connected with during particular times in my life... this one hurts

Edit: I clicked submit and immediately realized how selfish my post was. Obviously this is a horrible story and he's an absolute piece of shit. My comments weren't meant to diminish the actual story here... just a bit shocking is all

I’m probably just naive, but it still shocks me every time I see something like this. Very disappointing.

What fucking selfish piece of shit. Self Titled heavily inspired me to get back into guitar, so this one really pisses me off.
