  1. Having basically double the albums (I don't count IC) makes it hard to argue against them. Great catalog.

    Exactly.

If LP5 is presumably the last for Brand New, Thrice still has more records to come and more time to create something that tips them over the edge putting Brand New at #2.

I can foresee us getting at least 10 more Thrice albums and that's on my lowball estimate. I could see us getting up to 15 more.

I see them putting an album out next Fall to be honest lol.

For me, it's Beggars. I absolutely love every millisecond of that album. It still grows on me after all these years. Every time I sit down to listen, I am surprised that I love it even more by the time that door creaks shut at the end.

TDAG still holds the top spot when I comes to albums, but I could see Beggars overtaking it one day.

  6. And then Dustin's solo stuff has been pretty top notch too. Too bad Jesse never gave us that solo acoustic-y album.

  9. I dunno. I like the slower one off songs when they do it, but I'd worry it'd be too samey and I don't like his voice as much as Dustins if I'm honest. It's too bad it never happened though.

Today I decided to do a run through of BN's entire discography, somewhat in preparation for their show in a couple weeks, but also because it has been months since I've done that. It's something I'm going to be doing with a couple of my favorite bands over the next week. But damn, it was good to be reminded why this band means so much to me. With the exception of YFW (which I think is just okay, except Soco which is one of my favorite BN songs), all three of their full-lengths are monumentally important to me. There has never been a record that means as much to me as TDAG does, and I'm honestly not sure if there will ever be a record that surpasses it. Deja and Daisy are both incredible records and contain some of my favorite songs ever. Even the leaked demos, b-sides, and recent singles are fantastic. I couldn't be more excited to see them in the next couple weeks.

The influence this band has had on my songwriting, my taste in music, and to an extent my outlook on life is nearly indescribable. This fucking band.

Daisy kicks my ass so hard. Non-sexually of course. Never got the hate/indifference towards the instrumental/interludes on their albums. Always wished they'd release strange instrumental tapes in between albums

This x1000. I don't think I can ever tire of TDAG and I doubt I'll ever be as enamoured with an album as I am with that. Leaving LP5 with one hell of a task.

I can't get through YFW. Every time I try I realize I'm wasting valuable "Brand New listening" time and go to Devil or Daisy. Sometimes Deja. Ha

Anybody have song/band recommendations in the similar vein of "You Stole" I love the mood of that song so much and would love to hear suggestions of similar songs (besides other BN songs of course)

    Maybe so, maybe not.

I literally remember walking into Tower Records 13 years ago today after school and buying Deja. I had been listening to the demos for months, but man...that first listen. I still feel it in my bones.

I'm tweeting some great Deja era shows on @BrandNewArchive throughout the day. Here are two so far:
