Wow never heard those Archers Of Loaf comparisons. The vocal inflections of the verse for Noro are really similar. That second song I noticed "the coast line is quiet" line. Super interesting. I live for this shit. Let's keep going!

I always thought Vices was a nod to this Jesus Lizard song

Also the graphic design for the "Jesus" single has the same aesthetic as the album cover for Goat Jesus (Brand New song) - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia

I always thought that the beginning riff of Failure By Design was a nod to this Built To Spill song

Other obvious contenders are The Boy Who Blocked His Own Shot the same as Trailer Trash/Yellow and Not The Sun the same as Bigmouth Strikes Again

Archers Of Loaf, The Jesus Lizard, Built To Spill, Modest Mouse, The Smiths. All influences that they have cited before.

And could someone help me? I swear I came across something on Spotify and noticed that Mixtape is also a semi rip off of another song. I just forgot who it was. It had the same half time tempo, same two chord thing going on, and the riff that Vin does at the end. It sounded just like it dude.

Also, the bridge lyrics in Logan To Government Center is a nod to Close To Me by The Cure. The end of Deja has nods to The Eagles and The Beatles. Jesse said in an interview that the lyrics "demon up in the attic to the left" in Degausser was a nod to some 70's band. The verse in Sowing Season is some random poem. A lot of the vocal inflections and guitar riffs on Daisy are totally Isaac Brock inspired (Never Ending Math Equation/Satin In A Coffin similar to Sink). Not really complaining though

Sink sounds vaguely reminiscent of Soul of a Man by Beck.

    That's all I got.

Oh and I guess the main guitar riff to At the Bottom kind of reminds me of El Scorcho, but that's a simple enough riff that it probably sounds like a lot of things.

And IIR the drums to Tautou are almost identical to the drums from some other song by... Sigur Ros? I forget.

Edit: It was Ny Batteri. But again, it's simple enough that it's probably nothing.

    Is Noro chorus

"I'm on my way to hell"

Or "I'm in my way out". I've seen both and but I always hear this one

The vocal production is so underrated on daisy. He's singing low a lot on this but it's so powerful due to doubling, harmonies, and character

I absolutely can't hear "hell" no matter how hard I try. I think it's out

Were there ever official lyrics to the song online? Need to know this! This is more important than degauser!

This has been beaten to death, but when you've got 7 years between releases, things will inevitably be beaten to death.

    I'm on my way out.

Confirmed by someone in the band a year or so after the album came out. I've never heard it any differently, and can't fathom how anyone actually heard he word "hell" in that line.

I thought it sounded like Jesse but Vin sang it live and it sounded a lot like the album version so I'd assume it's actually him

it may have been back on AP or on Reddit, but someone brought it up to Jesse at a show and he confirmed it's "I'm on my way out", but said he wished he had thought of "I'm on my way to hell"

On first listening I did but on subsequent listens I noticed there's no gap for 'to' to be sung and realised it couldn't be, and that it had to be out. Very interesting that 7 years on people still have so many different perceptions of Brand new songs - I like it!

Well, I've only had them for 2 years. So, 2 years of hearing "hell". Probably gonna click when I listen to Daisy again, and I'm gonna feel dumb for the past 2 hearing "hell". hahaha I now feel the pain of them not putting lyrics in Daisy's booklet.

I hear now "out" now but I didn't always, and I can totally understand how someone could mishear it. The way he sings the word gives it an extra syllable because the pitch rises on the 2nd half of the word; "ou-out"

Yeah, that coupled with "well I've tried, god knows that I've tried" making me think of it in a more religious context so I just kinda figured I was hearing "hell" as the right word.
