I think working in a restraunt has made me a lot better at talking to strangers. Like short non-personal interactions have become way easier for me. Or at the very least, I know when to fake laugh at old white guy jokes.

Yeah. Being the first face of a sales team in retail really forced me to get over that. But then my anxiety did what it does and moved to when I'm having to stand up for myself in any capacity. Which I honestly find worse.

It's a bit easier for me at work cause I feel more in control of the situation. I'm weird when I don't feel in control like I can't even text my coworkers about the 5k cause I'm not that close with them and what if they think it's weird? What if the 5k doesn't turn out good or we'll organized and they judge me? Realistically I know they won't but my brain likes to overthink and be dumb so yeah lol

I always get anxious at work when I have to make a phone call. Answering one doesn't bother me, so it's not talking on the phone in general. I think I'm just always worried about bothering people or it being a bad time.

I'm really anxious about answering my personal phone if it's a number I don't know, but not about answering the phone at work. Which is good because answering the phone at work is literally my entire job.

omg sometimes my anxiety is right. I text a friend about the 5k and she was like "Oh when is it? Your sister deleted me off facebook..." and I'm like

having to leave voicemails is so stressful because I talk really quickly and mumble so I worry they won't understand me

I don't have any phone anxieties, but apparently I sound like a woman on the phone by the amount of times I've been called "ma'am."

I get anxious when I have to make or answer phone calls. I get tense when the phone rings.

I've gotten better at most basic small-talk interactions. But phone calls still stress me out.

  14. Haha. I just never answer it. Fuck the phone.

My worst phone moment was when I was following up on a job interview appt and I was leaving my number and got so anxious I FORGOT WHAT MY OWN PHONE NUMBER WAS. So embarrassing. I did not get that job lol

I'm also a really fast talker, especially on the phone. Leaving voicemails is a nightmare.

I was a telemarketer about ten or so years ago. I had to basically cold call people for eight hours and try to get them to donate money to veterans. There was a lot of verbal abuse and a woman told me,"I can't donate because I was just diagnosed with terminal cancer." I lasted one day and it is still in the top five of the worst jobs I've ever had.

I was a telemarketer/"telesales operative" for 6 months before being made redundant because the business was failing. Completely destroyed my confidence using a telephone, to the point where I ignore mine when it's ringing (even best friends) & only answer texts. It's so strange how that has happened, and I know it's ridiculous, but here I am...

I don't mind making local calls but if I ever have to call people not from around here I want to die. I'm told all the time that they can't understand me when I talk. I've started enunciating without an accent and things are getting better but I still hate it.

I refuse to pick up numbers I don't have saved. I'm sick of the telemarketing or calls that have no one on the line.

Because of the job hunt, I have to answer pretty much every call I get from numbers I don't know sadly. But I've also gotten pretty good at delivering, "Hi. I know you're just doing your job, but I have asked repeatedly for my number to be removed from this calling list. Please do so and have a great day, thank you" in less than a breath before hanging up on the credit card and cruise people.
